JOB TITLE: Women's & Girls' Performance Coach

REPORTING LINE: Head of Academy Performance

An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the Academy Performance department as Women's & Girls' Performance Coach. The purpose of this role is to develop, lead, and deliver the performance strategy in the Women’s and Girls’ department at Rangers FC. The Performance Coach will be responsible for the delivery of all aspects of the first team performance strategy, developing and delivering the highest possible level of support to compete in the SWPL, Scottish cup, League cup and Champions’ league. The successful candidate will also oversee the development of an academy curriculum, ensuring a solid foundation of physical development within the Girls’ academy. The successful candidate will manage a team of sessional/volunteers to implement the curriculum across the academy.

THE ROLE

This role is to develop and implement all the physical performance strategy to the women’s first team and girls’ academy at Rangers FC.

  • With the Women’s 1st team, deliver a holistic strategy focusing on maximising squad and individual performance and developing elite physical capacities. The strategy should be regularly reviewed and evolve based on developments in the field to ensure best practice training.

  • In line with the club’s training methodology, provide short and long term periodised training plans to maximise player development and readiness.

  • Deliver effective training strategies to maximise and develop the physical capacities required to perform at an elite level.  Ensure that players are appropriately physically prepared for each session. This should include but is not limited to; training preparation, warms ups, on pitch training, gym-based training, recovery sessions

  • Drive the use of technology, including data collection, analysis and database management. Support decision making by providing daily and weekly recommendations regarding training session organisation, content, volume and intensity. Use effective data visualisation to deliver concise and user-friendly squad and individual feedback to both technical staff and players for training, testing and matches. Drive innovation in terms of the use of technology specific to women’s 1st team players.

  • Regularly liaise with other staff members with regards to training and strategy development. Provide advice and support to other first team staff, including the first team manager, in areas relating to physical performance.

  • Create and deliver team and individualised strength programmes.

  • Work alongside the medical team to develop and deliver safe and effective return to play protocols and injury mitigation strategies. Support the medical team in the delivery of rehabilitation and return to play strategies.

  • Carry out regular physical performance testing along with the associated interpretation and reporting of results. Use this data to inform a develop training practice.

  • At games, ensure all players, starting and non-starting are appropriately prepared to perform. Design and deliver sessions for those players requiring additional physical training.

  • Deliver a player education programme to educate and empower players in areas such as training, recovery, lifestyle and nutrition.

  • Liaise with catering staff to ensure correct nutritional support.

  • With the Girls’ Academy, oversee the development of an academy, age specific, curriculum, ensuring and solid foundation of physical development within the Girls’ academy. This should include regular performance and growth and maturation testing. Management of a team of sessional/volunteers to implement the curriculum across the academy.

  • Deliver a coach and player education programme focusing on key performance pillars. Coach education should be aimed at maximising physical performance and development through training planning and practices. Player education should aim to holistically educate and empower players in areas such as training, recovery, lifestyle, and nutrition.

  • Carry out research on behalf of the performance department and undertake regular CPD.

  • Deliver on agreed KPIs.

  • Regularly liaise with the Rangers FC Performance team to share information and ensure common practice. Attendance at performance meetings and internal CPD events.

  • Support and drive the overall culture of Rangers FC.


THE CANDIDATE

  • Minimum of 2 years’ experience in a similar role.

  • Education and Qualifications:

  • Graduate calibre or equivalent proven experience working within a similar role.

  • Sound knowledge of Sports Science techniques.

  • Member of Chartered Society of Physiotherapists and Sports Injury.

  • UKSCA accredited, or on the pathway to becoming accredited.

  • Personal Attributes:

  • Engaging personality and able influencer with the ability to adapt to fresh challenges.

  • Excellent communication skill both written and verbal with the ability to manage time effectively and efficiently to achieve all aspect of role is a prerequisite.

  • Good team player, as well as ability to work on own initiative.  Flexible approach to working hours a must
