Derby County Football Club, established in 1884, is one of the founder members of the English Football League and has a rich and varied history, including two First Division titles in 1972 and 1975 and an FA Cup success in 1946. The club are currently playing in League One, the third tier of English Football, and is now under the management of recently appointed Head Coach Paul Warne. The club also boasts a successful and respected Category One Academy, a status which has been held since 2014. Derby County is embarking on an exciting new era following the recent change in ownership to Clowes Developments (UK) Limited. Our track record of producing talent is outstanding, and we intend to protect that proud legacy, investing in key roles within the club to build on the foundations in place for success.

Derby County Football Club is looking to recruit an experienced, self-motivated individual to join our Category One Academy as U6 – U11 Recruitment Lead.

The successful candidate will be responsible for the execution of the Academy Recruitment strategy to recruit players at the key milestones written within the strategy between the ages of 6 and 11 and for leading the Pre-Academy programme, underpinned by the identification, monitoring, and recruitment of grassroots talent.

Excellent and effective communication skills are vital for this role. The post holder will work closely with the U12 – U16 Recruitment Lead to continue the execution of the local community engagement strategy already in place.

Key Responsibilities:

· Identify, monitor, and recruit local grassroots talent to join our Academy through the internal and external methods already in place.

· Be the point of contact for the Pre-Academy, supporting parents/guardians and young people who enter the Derby County development pyramid through effective and transparent communication.

· Responsible for organising and delivering recruitment sessions/showcases, festivals, and fixtures at Derby County Training Centre for ages U6 – U11.

· Be comfortable managing the trialist process and presenting dossiers on players' recommendations to be signed to the Head of Academy Recruitment.

· Recruit and develop a team of age-specific Talent ID Scouts.

· Develop a knowledge of the talent within Category 2 and Category 3 Academies within a 1-hour radius of Derby.

· Working with the U12 – U16 Lead, develop a strategy to build relationships with grassroots clubs, leagues, community groups and schoolboy teams to support the identification of high-potential players both locally and nationally.

· Manage and develop reporting methods using the systems and processes in place.

· Responsible for initiating the trialist process with punctuality and professionalism.

· Provide staff members with continual streams of information to support decision-making.

· Ensure EPPP requirements are met and adhered to.

· Comply with the PL, EFL and FIFA rules and regulations when recruiting players.

· Monitor players and liaise with Derby County Talent ID Centres and Derby Community Trust Managers regarding players within the DCFC pathway.

· To cover matches as and when directed by the Academy Head of Recruitment and Academy Technical Scout.

· Ensure EPPP requirements are met and adhered to.

· Comply with the PL, EFL and FIFA rules and regulations when recruiting players.

· To build new links by at least three grassroots clubs a month.

· Attend Weekly meetings with Recruitment staff and Pre-Academy staff.

· Propose continuous development ideas and methods to ensure the club are at the forefront of new initiatives to stay ahead.

Personal characteristics and experience:

· Experience and knowledge of the Radius of Derby and surrounding areas.

· Experience working within Talent Identification

· Experience in working to deadlines in a high-pressure environment

· Experience and passion for working within the Age Banding U6-U11

· Understanding of Health & Safety Issues and good practice

· Ability to relate well to children and adults

· Ability to deal with day-to-day issues on own initiative

· Flexibility and availability to work unsociable hours

· Strong ICT skills and experience in Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.

Essential Qualifications

· FA Talent ID Qualification

· Full UK Driving License

The role is full-time and based at Moor Farm Training Centre. This role has a requirement to work evenings and weekends. The role will require the successful candidate to be on site at Moor Farm 5 days per week.

Salary is £28,000 - £30,000 per annum depending on experience.

Please note, candidates must be located with a 45 minute radius of Moor Farm Training Centre.
