Job Purpose

To develop and implement a Sports Psychology programme for coaches and players within the First Team

Job Responsibilities
1. Lead the development and implementation of a Sports Psychology programme for the First Team.
2. Plan and deliver a personalised programme for the players and staff that identifies psychological strengths and weaknesses.
3. Support players and staff to develop a range of skills and strategies to manage their psychological performance (i.e. proactively managing anxiety, maintaining confidence and motivation, developing resilience and mental toughness, mistake management).
4. Work closely with support staff to undertake detailed individual profiling of players, offering bespoke expertise in psychological factors.
5. Equip and enable coaches and support staff to recognise and respond to concerns in relation to mental health.
6. Provide 1:1 psychological support to First Team players as needed.
7. Create safeguarding and welfare policies for all teams to ensure a safe working environment for all.
8. Lead workshops that develop the skills, knowledge and understanding of the players and coaching staff so that they are better equipped for the demands of elite level football.
9. Support the Academy and Women’s team as directed.
10. Any other reasonable requests or tasks as required by the Technical Director

Person Specification

Qualifications 
Master’s Degree in a relevant field (Essential)
Recognised Psychological Society Accreditation (or similar) (Essential)

Skills, Knowledge and Experience
Experience of working in a competitive sporting environment (Essential)
Knowledge of a range of psychological therapies, and evidence of using these in practice with excellent results (Essential)
Knowledge of safeguarding processes and procedures (Essential)
Experience of working within a multi-disciplinary team setting (Essential)
Ability to communicate to and work effectively with players, coaches and senior staff (Essential)
Experience working as an applied psychologist in elite sport (Desirable)
Experience of working abroad and with different cultures (Desirable)
Multi-lingual (English, Spanish, Arabic or mix thereof) (Desirable)
