The Purpose: The Senior Merchandising Manager is a role focused on ensuring effective inventory management for the MU Retail business. Reporting directly to the Director of Merchandising, the role is a commercially focused role with revenue and margin maximization as the primary objectives.
The Role:Responsibilities include, but not limited to:
- Management of the MU retail inventory position, across all channels. Including, placing all buying volumes & orderbook management.
- Effective Supplier Management, and trade term negotiations across licensee, partner and direct supplier relationships
- Profitability control, achievement of gross margin targets via control of pricing, product mix, and mark down strategy
- Provide strategic development support to the retail and merchandising business including option guidance in line with wider business strategy and reflective of historical learnings
- Use modelling techniques to optimise our buying strategy
The Person:
- Excellent people management skills - this role requires constant dialogue and management of other departments and 3rd parties to ensure the Retail requirements are met.
- Retail experience – (both online & physical) An understanding of the retail market dynamic is preferable, ideally with an apparel focus.
- Adaptable – Comfortable working in a dynamic and entrepreneurial environment.
- Commercial - A high level of commercial awareness, with a track record of turning analysis into strategic initiatives.
- Proven research skills - from a commercial, regional, economic and industry specific perspective.
- Numeric - A high level of numeric capability, with the ability to manipulate and interpret large quantities of data.
- A proficient level of experience in modelling skills, combined with the ability to present complex data in a simple manner.
