Your key responsibilitiesPhysical Preparation
- To lead the practical design and delivery of conditioning sessions to Professional Development Phase (PDP) players including;
- Warm-ups to complement the planned technical training content aligned to the PDP weekly training periodisation model
- Gym-based strength and conditioning sessions to develop strength and power
- Recovery sessions, daily pre-activation and injury risk reduction strategies
- Individual player development (IDP) sessions, with specific reference developing components of fitness as identified using physical benchmarking and performance testing data.
- When required, deliver optimal match day provision at both home and away fixtures including pre-match warm-ups, post-match conditioning/running and implementation of nutritional support strategies based around travel arrangements.
- Work collaboratively with other members of the medicine and science department on tasks such as the rehabilitation process of players, off-season programming and evaluation of player performance.
- Contribute to the on-going alignment processes between 1st Team and Academy regarding physical preparation of players by attending continued professional development (CPD) sessions
Training Load Monitoring and Screening
- Download, monitor & evaluate physical performance and training loads using STATSports GPS technology for both training and rehabilitation sessions.
- To report objective training load data after sessions to the Academy key stakeholders to inform the training processes of PDP players
- Incorporate departmental screening protocols into training programmes within set cycles (micro- or meso-cycles) to assess an individual and team’s physical development throughout a macro cycle
Communication with Wider multi-disciplinary team (MDT)
- In conjunction with other members of staff in the medical and science department, collaborate daily with the technical coaching staff (Head coach, assistant head coach etc.) to inform the daily training processes of PDP players.
- Actively engage with other members of the MDT (e.g., academy nutritionist, academy psychologist, player care manager, head of education and welfare) to ensure a holistic approach to the academy player development pathway.
- Actively contribute to the MDT player review process using objective data (training and testing) to inform discussions.
What are we looking for?
- An individual with a high-level of practical delivery in a sports setting
- Someone with a high level of planning and organization skills
- A personable individual who is able to create and build relationships with players and identified support network, to effectively support injury rehabilitation and performance needs
- Excellent interpersonal capabilities, including IT (e.g., PowerPoint, excel, PowerBI) and presentation skills to communicate effectively at all levels
- Previous experience of STATSports GPS technology would be beneficial
- Experience of administrative systems including PMA and Benchmark54 would be advantageous
- The safeguarding and welfare of our players is paramount and as such this position is subject to the Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS)
