Description

Reporting to the Education Manager, the main objectives of the Primary Stars Coordinator role is to co-ordinate and manage the delivery of QPR Primary Stars, part of the Premier League’s flagship schools programme. The main aims of the project are to:

  • Enhance teachers’ knowledge, skills and confidence to improve provision of PE and School Sport

  • Increase children’s enjoyment, participation and skills in competitive and non-competitive sports and other physical activities.

  • Increase children’s understanding of the personal skills and values they need to achieve their goals

  • Enhance children’s understanding of, and interest and confidence in, English and Maths

  • Support young people to follow further participation in sport


You will lead the delivery of the project and manage project staff. You will plan and deliver a range of P.E & school sport activities within local primary schools. Taking a holistic approach to developing children you will work closely alongside school staff and QPR coaches to improve pupils knowledge & understanding of PSHE, Numeracy, Literacy and social action (from yr 2). You will be required to develop learning resources, deliver and evaluate interventions and contribute to the delivery of whole school activities and collapsed curriculum days. You will be responsible for managing a project budget and monitoring & evaluation procedures.

During school holiday periods you may be required to work across other Trust departments supporting a variety of projects.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Manage project staff to make sure delivery is of the highest quality.

  2. Coordinate staffing and timetables across participating schools.

  3. Ensure targets are achieved across all aspects of the PLPS programmes.

  4. Maintain current partnerships and establish new partnerships with schools taking part in the programme.

  5. Communicate with key school staff on a regular basis and be the point of contact for all PLPS matters.

  6. Work closely with the School Sport Coordinator, and any other relevant Trust staff, to ensure PLPS is promoted and embedded within the Trust’s offer to schools.

  7. Complete monitoring and evaluation in line with PLCF and Trust guidelines.

  8. Support PLPS officers to Plan and deliver activities that contribute to the main strands of the QPR Primary Stars programme.


This is to include (not exhaustive):

  • Engage and inspire participants (aged 5 - 11) in the programme.

  • Develop and refine learning resources for P.E., literacy, numeracy, PSHE and social action

  • Deliver extra curricular sports clubs

  • Deliver P.E lessons

  • Deliver literacy/numeracy/PSHE interventions

  • Support school to deliver social action projects

  • Mentor school staff through a P.E unit of work.

  • Classroom support for pupils 1:1 or in small groups.


Qualifications/Licences

  • UKCC Level 2 Coaching qualifications or equivalent.

  • Educated to degree level (in a relevant subject) or have at least 2 years’ experience of working in Primary School environment.

  • 1st4Sport L3 Certificate in Supporting the Delivery of PE and School Sport.

  • Professional teaching qualification (desirable).

  • L2 Multi-skills qualification (desirable).

  • Full driving licence (desirable).


Experience

  • Previous experience coaching/teaching sport in a Primary School setting.

  • Delivering larger (whole school) learning activities.

  • Working knowledge for the National Curriculum.

  • Experience of line management of full time and casual staff members.

  • Experience of working within a set budget and managing finances.

  • Experience of delivering online sessions

  • Delivering sport specific CPD to coaches or teachers.

  • Experience of liaising with schools and external agencies.

  • Supporting other staff through coaching/teaching.

  • Monitoring & evaluating the impact of sessions and whole programme

  • Intermediate Microsoft Office skills (outlook, word, excel)
