Purpose:.
Established in 1986, City in the Community is the registered charity of Manchester City and exists to empower healthier lives through football. Reaching 20,000 people each season, programmes place physical and mental wellbeing at their core, whist also creating healthy futures and healthy communities.
The purpose of the Primary Schools Officer role is to co-ordinate the delivery aspects of the Primary and SEND Schools programme. The aim of the role is to contribute to the development of a quality offer of PE for Primary School pupils in Manchester. A focus will be placed on the recruitment, management, development and ongoing support of staff to ensure high quality of delivery, increased experiences and opportunities, and professional development for staff and partners. The role will also contribute towards the recruitment of schools for the programme.
Accountabilities with Key Outcomes:
- Co-ordinate a team of coaches to deliver the Primary and SEND Schools programme, engaging participants across a wide range of ages, social backgrounds and abilities. This includes all aspects of practical delivery, monitoring and evaluation and relationship building in the settings, to offer a variety of educational experiences to primary and SEND school participants.
- Responsible for maintaining excellent relationships with key school staff, including the re-signing of school contracts and the signing up of new schools to the Primary and SEND Schools programme in-line with programme delivery targets.
- Responsible for progressing and reporting on set KPIs and outcomes associated with the project to develop, maintain and grow a strong working relationship with the programme funders
- Creating, maintaining and developing relationships with internal partners from CITC and the wider City Football Group (CFG), local authorities and governing bodies to develop CITC’s reputation and reach, promoting all CITC programmes across Manchester.
- Regularly reviewing individual performances within the team, providing high quality session observations and structured feedback to assess, identify and provide training and CPD opportunities which continuously improves the standard of delivery on the programmes.
- Contributing to management of budget spend to ensure programmes are delivered within the projected budget, escalating observations or any concerns where necessary.
- Ensuring that CITC’s Safeguarding policy and procedures are embedded to the highest standard across the team. Work to ensure that safeguarding practices and principles are adhered to, ensuring our legal and moral obligations towards the framework.
- Ensuring that all CITC and CFG policies and procedures are adhered to across the team, escalating any breaches as appropriate.
Knowledge, Skills and Experience:
Essential
- In-depth understanding of coaching community-based programmes and project management
- Solid experience of working in and liaising with schools, community organisations, local government departments and external funding partners
- Knowledge of CITC school projects, specifically PLPS
- GCSEs or equivalent in English, Maths and Science
- Minimum NGB L2 coaching qualification (ideally football/UEFA C)
- Experience of managing a team
- Competent across Microsoft office
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
- Creative and passionate about continuous improvement

- Excellent and inclusive team-working abilities
