Description
Due to recent growth, Millwall Community Trust are seeking an experienced UEFA qualified coach to start work immediately on their successful Post 16 Football and Education Programme.
The role will involve overseeing the whole academy programme and coaching the Post 16 squads on Monday, Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays as well as managing a team on Wednesday against other pro clubs in the EFL Community and Education League, producing Individual Player Development Plans (IDPs) for players and recording/analysing all games via our VEO camera.
The coach will also be expected to deliver and support on Millwall CT’s Player Performance Pathway, a unique development centre trying to identify and develop players for the main club’s academy (Mondays, Tuesdays and Fridays, 4:30-6pm each day).
Key Responsibilities
Post 16 Academy:
· Designing, leading and delivering the coaching structure and philosophy for the entire Post 16 programme, alongside the Football Development Manager
· Plan and deliver progressive sessions which help develop the players individually and as a team (creating Individual Development Plans for all Players)
· Manage and deliver all the football elements of the Millwall Community Trust College Programme on a day-to-day basis
· Coach across both the Bacon’s College and Lewisham College Post-16 centres at least once per week, ensuring coaches adhere to philosophy and coaching expectations
· Manage a small coaching team, setting schedules and ensuring standards are maintained at all times whilst acting as a mentor to drive continual improvement
· Oversee and provide input to the selection of squads for all fixtures (ensuring all students get game time at relevant level)
· Book all officials and confirm match details with opposition, including updating all stats on the FA Whole Game system, including administration for yellow cards etc.
· Record & analyse games, offering constructive feedback to players/squad and coaches to improve performance
· Drive the mini bus to away games when required (Do not need a D1 but must have current driving license)
· Organise all match day equipment (balls, bibs and cones) and ensure all playing kit is collected in full and washed after every game
· Be a presence in the classroom of our Lewisham College BTEC Programme at least once a month and be across the education elements, working with the Lewisham/Bacon College tutors/teachers and education providers to ensure the students are achieving both in the classroom and on the football pitch
· Be the main point of contact for both Lewisham College and Bacon’s College for Post 16 related issues.
· Be the driving force for growing the programme, recruiting new players, delivering recruitment sessions, events, open evenings, presentations, meetings etc, alongside the Football Development Manager and the marketing/media team.
· Organise and run a pre-season programme during the Summer
Player Performance Pathway:
· Monitor the performance of the pathway’s coaches, ensuring they adhere to the coaching curriculum and expectations of an academy experience
· Deliver regular CPD and act as a mentor to the coaches throughout the season
· Help devise specialist holiday/development camps for pathway players during school holidays
· Work alongside the Football Development Officer to drive up standards, improving the experience for players and parents
· Help organise and deliver feedback on IDPs of players
· Cover sessions when required and help grow the programme as a whole
Person Specification
Essential:
· UEFA B Coaching Qualification
· Proven experience of coaching 16-19 years old players
· Current Driving License
· Experience of using VEO and analysing games effectively
· Up-to-date FA safeguarding & First aid qualifications
· Experience of working within development centres
· Computer literate
· Driven to succeed and ‘can do’ approach
Desired:
· UEFA A Licence
· Professional football academy experience
· Previous Post 16 Academy experience
Salary: £25,000
Responsible to: Football and Sports Development Manager
Hours of work: 40 hours per week (including early evenings)
Location: St Paul’s Sports Ground (with some local travel)
