Player Support Manager - Men's 1st Team

Who are we: Everton Football Club is one of world sport's most respected and revered names - a by-word for innovation and professionalism during the course of a glittering history that spans three centuries.

One of the 12 founder members of the Football League, Everton has played more games in English football's top flight than any other club.

While rightly proud of our rich past, and Goodison Park, our home of more than 130 years, we are now setting our sights on an exciting future at a state-of-the-art new stadium currently being constructed on the banks of the iconic River Mersey.

In doing so, we remain committed to developing and supporting teams across our men’s, women’s and Academy set-ups that inspire and compete at the highest level of the game.

Our values underpin how we behave, how we represent our club in our city and across the world of football, and how we look after one another and our community. They provide a framework for how we work and engage with partners, suppliers and, most importantly, our fans.

About the opportunity: A unique and exciting opportunity has arisen to work within our Men’s First Team Player Support Department as a Player Support Manager, covering a period of maternity.

Reporting to the Director of Football, you will be managing the Men’s First Team Player Support provision, providing off-field support to First Team Players, Management Staff and their families, including team integration and relocation support for new players joining the Club.

Other core responsibilities as part of the role will include:

  • Acting as the main point of contact for all Men’s First Team Players regarding any off-field requirements

  • Collaboratively working with the Director of Football and Head of Football Operations regarding initial requirements for incoming First Team Players and their representatives

  • Liaising with incoming First Team Players regarding relocation requirements, including housing, travel, schooling, banking, and personal administration

  • Producing and maintaining a Player Support Plan for all incoming First Team Players, including regular catch-up meetings during the integration period

  • Providing ongoing day to day, 24/7 support to First Team Players and their families, including First Team Players out on loan

You will manage the efficient and effective functioning of the department, influencing administrative process’ and ensuring a best-in-class service.

Who we are looking for: Essentially, we are looking for a senior Player Support professional, who has athlete care experience within an elite sporting environment.

You must be comfortable working with a wide variety of demands and be flexible enough to support our elite players across competitive fixtures, both home and away.

We need someone who possess’ the ability to work discreetly under pressure, and is a passionate, energised team player who embraces opportunities to collaborate with a broader diverse team.

It would be advantageous if the successful candidate spoke a foreign language (French, Spanish and Portuguese are preferred) and has strong knowledge of the local area.
