Description

Hartlepool United Football Club are looking to recruit a full-time PDP Lead Coach to assist in the Clubs Academy in providing a seamless pathway for the young talent being developed by the Club to the next stages of their football career.

Key Roles & Responsibilities:

  • Plan, prepare, deliver and evaluate all academy sessions and upload to IP portal.

  • Ensure all players performance clock is kept up to date in line with EPPP requirements.

  • To deal with and take full responsibility for all requirements of the Clubs Academy football players in relation to their playing, training, education and welfare throughout the professional development phase (U18s).

  • To deliver coaching and matchday sessions for Hartlepool United F C Academy aligned to the Academies philosophy and culture. To highlight and develop the players in your care so they can progress and improve the Hartlepool United way, becoming adaptable and effective problem solvers, ideally looking to gain a scholarship at Hartlepool United, and/or at a higher level.

  • To support other phases and departments of the programme.

  • To be a member of the Academy Management Team.


General Responsibilities

  • Adhere to Academy Coaches code of conduct for daily standards, coaching, matchday and reviewing processes.

  • To manage and deliver the day to day coaching of the U18 players to the highest standards set throughout the Football Club.

  • Supervise the players through their education programme in accordance with LFE requirements.

  • Liaise and work closely with the SEP Co-ordinator to ensure players progress through their apprentice scheme.

  • Attendance at all youth team matches throughout the season.

  • Manage and drive the Professional Development Phase players ILP’s ensuring coaches are monitoring, supporting and reviewing effectively.

  • Endure and take accountability for each Professional Phase age group being exposed to the experiences outlined at the start of the season alongside the amount of games set for each age group.

  • Ensure the players highlighted in each Professional Development Phase age group are being exposed to the experiences outlined at the start of the season.

  • Use innovative and creative approach to learning by keeping up to date with the latest news/research regarding how best to develop young players.

  • Carry out administrative duties as and when required to ensure the U18s programme is organised, liaising with Youth Administrator to ensure duties and deadlines are met.

  • Undertake administrative tasks related to the role and to keep and maintain all appropriate records using the methods prescribed by the Academy and the Football Club.

  • Undertake pastoral and welfare duties for the U18 in conjunction with the Education and Life Skills in conjunction with the Clubs Welfare Officer.

  • Contribute to the Clubs scouting and recruitment process where appropriate.

  • To Assist the Academy Manager with all other football matters in whatever area as directed.

  • Work closely with members of the Academy Management Team to provide a holistic and rounded development programme.

  • Assist the Academy Manager in maintaining the required operating standards to meet the relevant Football League regulations and EPPP criteria.

  • At all times promote and provide the image of Hartlepool United Football Club and in particular the activities of the Academy.

  • Adhere to organisational policies and procedures relating to operations, health and safety and quality

  • Maintain confidentiality of all information with regard to the Data Protection Act.


Safeguarding

This role carries a specific safeguarding responsibility. This means that the post-holder is required to apply all relevant policies and uphold the Club’s commitment to safeguarding.

Hours of Work

The role will include weekend and evening work as standard.

Desirable Skills & Experience:

  • Experience of working in a management role.

  • Experience of creating and leading a high performing team.

  • A proven track record in a high energy, fast moving, pressurised environment.

  • Ability to deal with confidential and sensitive information.

  • Knowledge of governing body rules within football (i.e. PL, EFL, FA, UEFA and FIFA) to include an understanding of the current EPPP regulations.

  • Development and Implementation of operational processes and procedures

  • Able to demonstrate success in a logistical/operations role

  • Experience of event management.


Essential

  • UEFA ‘A’ Licence Qualified

  • Training and experience of the LFE Scholarship programme

  • Modules 1, 2 and 3 of the F A Youth Coaches Award

  • Proficient in use of word and excel.

  • Willing to learn the use of new database programmes such as Player Management Application (IP) and IFAS and the F A Player Pro Portal.

  • Able to develop effective working relationships at all levels.

  • Promote, adhere to and implement the Club’s Equality Policy and to work consistently to embed equality and diversity within Club.

  • Ability to multi-task and handle changes to plans and workload in a positive manner.

  • Possess communication skills that are clear, engaging and responsive.

  • Conscientious and motivated with high level of personal initiative.


Desirable

  • 2 year’s experience working in the Academy Department of a professional football/sports club

  • The ability to work calmly under pressure

  • The ability to work effectively and safely, whilst working both independent and as part of a team

  • To always adhere to confidently and data protection procedures

  • Budget management experience.

  • Post-holder must hold or obtain at the earliest opportunity the relevant safeguarding training (i.e. FA Safeguarding Children Workshop) Post-holder will be subject to a DBS check at the appropriate level.

  • A valid full UK Driver’s License (D1 Mini Bus)

  • A genuine team player

  • Excellent levels of communication

  • Takes responsibility for ensuring tasks are completed to a high standard

  • Excellent timekeeping skills

  • Hardworking & Enthusiastic
