The Purpose:
- To create a culture that maximises the talent of each Manchester United player in all aspects of the Redprint model to optimise the quality of team performance and ensure that FA Licence criteria are being met.
- To develop a working environment that is conducive to open communication, innovation and one in which staff feel comfortable evaluating their own and others’ performance.
The Role:Key ResponsibilitiesThe key responsibilities of the post are:
- To develop players capable of playing for the Manchester United Women’s first team
- To develop players capable of playing in the top two tiers of the Women’s professional game
- To holistically support players across their dual careers
Training Session Delivery
- To assist the Manchester United Women U21 Lead Coach
- To support the PDP Lead coach in the planning, preparation and delivery of all training sessions for the PDP in accordance with the Redprint and the annual delivery plan
- To support the Lead coach in the planning and preparation for each match with particular emphasis on the needs of individual players
Playing Philosophy
- To always adhere to the Manchester United development & coaching ‘Redprint’ philosophy.
- To ensure high standards of coaching delivery across the Professional Development Phase.
Academy
- To support in the delivery of the coaching and development annual plan for the Professional Development Phase in line with the Manchester United Women Redprint
- To engage fully in CPD events organised internally and externally (e.g. The FA).
- Maintain positive relations with key England (and other) international staff.
- Effective management and support of player welfare
- To support in the function of player analysis and data tracking
- To develop and maintain a strong relationship with Manchester United’s Regional Talent Centre
Recruitment
- To attend games for scouting and recruitment purposes as required
Player Analysis and Data Tracking
- To record events on post-match team feedback form (team & individual player clips)
- To deliver post-match video sessions for the team / units and individuals as required
Behaviour & Culture
- To uphold the standards of sportsmanship, behaviour and playing style expected at Manchester United
- To ensure that the Club adheres to The FA Rules and Regulations and Competition Rules
- To ensure that the Club adheres to Respect guidelines
- Contribute towards a positive working environment
Relationships
- To develop a strong relationship with Manchester United’s Regional Talent Centre and Manchester United Women’s 1st team
- To work in conjunction with other departments (i.e. Recruitment, Football Medicine & Science and Operations) as necessary.
The Person:The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate:
- Minimum UEFA B, preferably an A licence holder
- FA Licensed Coach (Member of the Licensed Coaches Club to cover safeguarding and first aid)
- Experience of and enthusiasm for coaching and mentoring elite young and senior players
- Track record of consistent high performance in a professional environment
- Ability to demonstrate good session planning and strong organisational skills
- Understanding of learning, development, and high performance with a proven ability to create optimum learning environments for players
- Empathy with young players with an ability to inspire
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to build meaningful, strong strategic relationships with Club staff
- Awareness of diversity and equality challenges in football
- Ability to travel independently
- A willingness to work flexible hours in accordance with the demands of the role
