Job purpose:

Barnsley Football Club's Commercial Department will look to carry out inventive activities to both secure and maintain relationships with partners on a regional, national and global scale. With this new opportunity, we are looking for a candidate who is inspired by a challenge and inspired to make a positive difference.

Positive, enthusiastic self-starter to drive commercial income via sales.
Based at Oakwell stadium, the home of Barnsley Football Club, this role will see the successful candidate become the customer facing representative across the network of local business.

As a sales development representative, you will proactively qualify leads from marketing campaigns as sales opportunities.

Specific tasks/responsibilities:

  • Schedule meetings with key stakeholders and potential customers to achieve daily, weekly, and monthly targets set out by Barnsley FC.
    • Generate productive daily campaigns and other profitable trigger tasks to increase contacts made to schedule face-to-face meetings.
    • Continuously engage pipeline activity through follow up communications with potential customers.
    • Leveraging a variety of outreach tools such as phone, email, social platforms (LinkedIn) to develop interactions with potential customers.
    • Achieving and exceeding weekly /monthly metrics (meeting scheduled, opportunities created etc.)
    • Identifying potential customers through networking and following leads.
    • Building and maintaining solid working relationship both with new and existing customers
    • Development of solution approaches as well as tracking of ongoing sales
    • Identifying sales opportunities
    • Processing of orders


Admin/Team support:

  • Open to a flexible approach to work and availability to work all first team matchdays (inc. evening and weekends).
    • Ensure Data Protection Policies are always upheld and adhered to.
    • Provide support to the wider Commercial Team as required covering holiday and sick leave.


Personal specification:

The ideal candidate will have skills and experience in the following areas: - Essential (E) Desirable (D)

  • Educated to at least A level in relevant topic, or experience working within a commercial setting. (D)

  • Commercial acumen proven through prior work experience. (D)

  • Understanding of market trends and importance of brand consistency. (D)

  • Ability to negotiate and influence with a proven strategic aptitude. (D)

  • An effective communicator and team player who will collaborate with the wider team. (E)

  • Someone who can easily create positive working relationships. (E)

  • Creative, strategic, and strong organisational skills. (E)

  • Ability to multitask, be self-motivated, work calmly under pressure and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment. (E)
