The league currently has 29 active clubs and San Diego was recently announced as the 30th club to join.
The growth of our business and fan base happens at both national and local levels. To drive collaboration, best practices, innovation, solutions and league-wide growth, Major League Soccer is building a Club Performance Department. Based in New York, the group will serve as an in-house advisory and resource, working in close partnership with club leadership in areas of business operations, including ticketing, sponsorship, media, content, marketing, business intelligence and fan development.

Responsibilities
- Work closely with Club Performance and League Office leadership to plan and track department and matrixed organization projects.
- Support priority Club Performance projects through research, analysis, and the development of action plans.
- Work with matrixed and Club Performance stakeholders to identify and document best practices across Major League Soccer and other industries for dissemination.
- Work with internal Research and Business Intelligence stakeholders to deliver regular reporting and address feedback and questions.
- Coordinate and attend Club visits, as needed, to develop relationships with club leadership, assess needs, identify priorities, and ensure effective and implementation of best practices and action plans.
- Collaborate with League Office IT stakeholders to organize and manage League-wide “resource library” of information, studies, best practices, presentations, and other materials.
- Lead development of programming of MLS League Meetings, working closely with League and Club leadership.
- Lead and manage the development and selection process for the annual MLS Executive and Team Awards.
- Serve as League Office source of information and documents for diverse club-related matters.
- Lead planning of new Club Leadership onboarding, including presentation and agenda development.
- Work with League Office stakeholders and external agencies to expand available research, data and overall resource to support an insights-based approach to departmental work.
- Develop relationships with other sports properties, leagues, and vendors to identify and share best practices in marketing and ticketing.
Qualifications
Education and Experience:
- Bachelor’s Degree, MBA Preferred.
- 5+ years of experience in the sports and entertainment industry, with diverse experiences or working closely with professional teams/clubs.
- Experience in consultative and marketing positions.
Required Skills:
- Strong executive presence with experience working directly with C-Level Executives.
- Superior organization, project management skills and attention to detail.
- Possess strategic and innovative mindset, excellent communication skills, and the ability to project manage in a fast-paced environment.
- Knowledge of domestic and international soccer industry.
- Knowledge in areas of sponsorship, ticketing, media, business intelligence, digital, and fan engagement.
- Strong data and analytical capabilities, with the ability to identify insights and supported recommendations.
- Excellent people skills, with an ability to interact effectively in a professional and diplomatic manner with internal and external clients at all levels.
- High level of commitment to quality work product and organizational ethics, integrity, compliance, promptness, and timeliness.
- Must be proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, Power Point.
- Ability to travel and to work non-traditional hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
- English fluency required. Fluency or proficiency in Spanish and/or French preferred.
