Role Summary:An exciting opportunity has arisen at Portsmouth Football Club as we are seeking to recruit innovative, forward thinking and hardworking Lead Youth Development Phase Coach.
The role holder will be responsible for the coaching and management of the U15/16 age group at evening training sessions, competitive matches, as well supervising their day release programme. Additionally, they will manage and lead the part time youth development phase U12-U16 coaches and work closely with the Academy Manager, Operations Manager and the Head of Academy Coaching. Collaboration with key stakeholders such as the
Foundation and Professional Development Phase Leads is essential to ensure the Academy delivers on its aim to develop players that are respectful, well-rounded, and who embody the values and behaviours embed across the Academy.
Key Tasks:
- Internal : Academy Leadership, Coaching, Operational and Multi-Disciplinary Staff.
- External : Parents, Local clubs, Scouts, Regulatory bodies, Link organisations.
- Reviews paperwork and processes to be monitored and completed on time.
- Attend all YDP Weekly MDMs and ensure the minutes are saved on the shared drive.
- PMA completion for all YDP age groups to be monitored
- Ensure coach appraisal paperwork completed for part-time YDP coaches and ensure the part-time coaches’ development needs are incorporated into session planning.
- Monitor, deliver and evaluate session plans in line with the Academy Blueprint.
- Watch YDP matches back on Hudl when they are filmed.
- Ensure the games programme for U12-16s is suitably arranged via the Academy Manger and in line with the scheduled EFL Games Programme
- Provide an overview on Player Development Reports for the phase to support Retain and Release outcomes
- The role will be based at the training ground in Portsmouth; however there will be a need to travel to a variety of venues in and around the city also.

Requirements of the role:Essential Skills & Qualifications
- The appointed coach must have the:
- FA safeguarding certificate
- UEFA ‘A’ licence
- FA EFAiF First Aid Certificate
- Experience working in a professional football academy with players aged 11-18

- People Management experience

- Hudl usage
- PMA usage
- FA Advanced Youth Award (YDP age preferred)
