The role of the Lead Football Coach is to provide support and coaching services to the NIST Football programme, both in the Falcons Football Academy, and the Physical Education curriculum. The Lead Football Coach should share a vision of creating football opportunities for all by providing quality experiences through intentional teaching and coaching.
Responsibilities
- Follow the direction of the Head of Football and the Director of Athletics & Activities at all times
- Work in collaboration with the Heads of Football on matters relating to the Football Academy
- Manage and oversee the team/programmes to which they have been appointed
- Instruct players in the rules, regulations, equipment and techniques of football
- Organize and direct individual and small group football related practice activities/exercises/tryouts
- Assess player’s skills, monitor players during competition and practice and provide guidance to players to improve
- Deliver sessions in line with the Falcons Football Syllabus to support the development of participants on the Falcons Football pathway
- Follow established procedures in the event of an athlete’s injury and provide for prevention and care of injuries
- Model sportsman-like behavior and maintain appropriate conduct towards players, officials and spectators
- Perform support tasks such as distributing and maintaining eligibility forms, emergency data forms and other related records
- Manage and oversee the maintenance of football equipment and support the purchasing of replacement equipment
- Teaching and developing positive character traits and sportsmanship including respect for colleagues, desire for excellence, fair play, teamwork, leadership, perseverance, and self-discipline
- Cater to any student or parent requests, questions, or inquiries
- Behave in a manner that is consistent with the values of NIST, while behaving positively and collaboratively with other staff at all times
- Attend meetings and contribute in a positive fashion
- Attend to emails and communications as needed in a timely way (with 24 hours)
- Attend any additional event, tournament, sport, or other activity at the request of the Director of Athletics & Activities
- Take part in professional development activities, where assigned, and maintain current knowledge of all systems and practices
- Assist in any other areas where required at the request of the Director of Athletics & Activities

Qualification
- Bachelor’s Degree in any related field
- Background and experience in football coaching
- Knowledge and experience in effective safeguarding practices procedures are desirable
- Recognized football coaching qualifications from an official football governing body
- Experience of working within Football Academy programs and extensive experience and expertise in the coaching of football
- Be able to deliver football coaching sessions to students of all abilities
- CPR/First Aid/AED certification preferred
- Competent in both written and spoken English
- Computer literate and familiar with MS Office, Google Office, and Web-Based programs
- An excellent communicator with good interpersonal skills who has the ability to converse well with students, parents, colleagues, visitors, and coaches from other schools
- Service orientated and has the ability to work under pressure
- A self-starter who is able to set timelines and assist with large-scale events and operations
- Willing to work additional hours where needed for competition/event preparation
- Mature, pleasant personality, flexible, multi-tasks, student and people-oriented
- Interest in educational Athletics & Activities
- Share a commitment to NIST values with an enthusiasm for the value of sport within the NIST mission
Working Hours
- Working hours are 9:00 AM – 5:30 PM, Monday – Friday, & 7:30 AM – 12:30 PM on Saturdays or Sundays. Hours are subject to seasonal biases dependent on early morning sessions and late evening sessions
- Plus, any additional event, tournament, sport, or other activity that requires attendance
