The Role of Lead Emerging Talent ScoutThe main responsibility of the Lead Emerging Talent Scout is to lead in the identification & recruitment of elite youth football players who have the potential to play for Brentford Football Club’s First Team. The role focuses on identifying top U16-U21 talent worldwide, tracking players from youth levels as they break into first team football, with the objective to identify high potential undervalued elite youth players faster and more effectively than our competitors.
Main Accountabilities
- To lead on the identification, assessment and shortlisting of suitable player targets for Brentford Football Club across all key emerging talent markets from U16-U21 age groups.
- To work closely with the Lead Technical Scout in the assessment of suitable player profiles identified through data/resource in all key emerging talent markets from U16-U21 age groups.
- To collaborate and work closely with Lead Scouts in all other areas covered by the Recruitment Department to support in the identification of next generation U16-U21 talents breaking into 1st Team football.
- To communicate with agents / external networks on emerging talent players of interest to gather market intelligence to inform the scouting process.
- To provide monthly position specific player recommendations focusing on specified key Emerging Talent markets from U16-U21 age groups.
- To work effectively within the defined Scouting Department processes to ensure serious players of interest are identified, and progressed, faster and more effectively than our competitors.
- To attend live fixtures focused on emerging talent within the UK and worldwide - proactively and on the request of the Head of Scouting / Technical Director.
- To watch videos of potential players of interest and file reports in line with the Recruitment Departments process.
- To work closely with the Head of Scouting / Technical Director to ensure comprehensive due diligence on all emerging talent players of interest.
- To assist the Head of Scouting / Technical Director on any additional responsibilities relevant to your role and area covered.
- To ensure that any concerns you observe, or are raised with you in your role, are shared with the Safeguarding Team through appropriate channels.

Person Specification - Desirable Characteristics
- Minimum 3 years’ experience / knowledge of working within a professional football club scouting department at an elite level
- Football related qualifications and/or sports related Bachelor’s degree qualification or similar
- Ability to edit / clip video footage using platforms such as WyScout, iMovie, Windows Video Editor etc.
