Hull City Football Club are looking to recruit an ambitious professional to join our team in the position of Lead Academy Physiotherapist.
The successful candidate should have the ability to organise, communicate and deliver world-class medical provision to players of all ages within the Academy pathway, being responsible for the running of our Medical Department under the guidance of the Head of Medical Services & Performance. Based at Bishop Burton College, the role involves both managerial and clinical duties and is an important part of the structure of a Category 2 Academy under EPPP rules.
Position Type: Permanent, Full time working 37.5 hours per week. Hours may include evenings and weekends to cover match days.

Salary: £35-£40k dependent on experience

Your key responsibilities
• Manage the Academy Medical department, working closely with the Academy doctor and full-time Physiotherapists
• Oversee all injuries throughout the Academy making sure they are properly assessed and the correct rehabilitation strategies adopted
• Arrange for any additional medical assessments and interventions from external or internal specialist as required
• Complete regular medical audits, reviewing medical records from both full and part time medical staff, ensuring compliance with professional standards of practice
• Lead on the implementation of injury prevention protocols
• Support those in the medical team with their professional development
• Assist colleagues with the completion and security of all medical insurance documentation and screening (cardiac, orthopaedic, osteopathic and podiatry) related to all Academy players
• Fulfil the role of a Chartered Physiotherapist in the assessment, diagnosis and rehabilitation of PDP and YDP players, ensuring a high standard of care if maintained at all times
• Responsible for providing emergency aid cover for Academy training sessions accompanying teams on match days as required and if requested, provide emergency aid cover for training sessions and/or games for any squad
• Assist in the delivery of on-field and gym-based rehabilitation sessions
• Deliver and develop of all medical/health, sports science and strength and conditioning related matters
• Deliver and design, in conjunction with the other members of the medical and science department, daily pre-activation and injury risk reduction strategies
What are we looking for?
• BSc (hons) or MSc in Physiotherapy - Essential
• Chartered Physiotherapist - Desirable
• ATMMiF certificate (level 5 emergency aid certificate) - Desirable
• At least 2 years’ experience working within a sporting environment, ideally in elite sport and preferably football - Desirable
• Previous people management experience - Desirable
• High level of planning and organization, with strong attention to detail
• Strong interpersonal skills, able to effectively communicate with players, parents and coaches in order to support health and wellbeing, injury prevention, rehabilitation and performance needs
• Comprehensive presentation skills, with the ability to lead and deliver PDP medical/health education programmes to staff and players
• Focused on individual player development within a team process
• Willingness to work unsociable hours and weekends
• The safeguarding and welfare of our players is paramount and as such this position is subject to the Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS)

We have made significant progress at the Academy since the Club successfully achieved its quest to gain Category Two status in the summer of 2015, with the primary focus on developing and nurturing players with outstanding potential into future first team regulars.
