King's Sport & Wellness are seeking a qualified Strength & Conditioning Coach to support our TASS/FA funded programme of support in collaboration with Charlton Athletic Women's Football Club WSL Academy Development Squad. The individual will work closely with the Charlton staff to deliver high quality Strength and Conditoning focussed towards the players within Charlton WSL Academy.
The successful candidate will create a positive, responsive and productive relationship with the dual career athletes, the coaches, other support staff and King's Sport & Wellness.
We are looking for a strength and conditioning coach to deliver support weekly on Monday (5:30-9:30pm) & Saturday (12:30-4:30pm) (Hours may differ slightly depending on need) at Charlton Training Ground, via Footscray Rugby Club, 239a-241 Footscray Road, Eltham SE9 2EL.
We would also like the individual to support with our TASS and Performance athletes which would total up to 20 hours per week including Charlton. Days/ Times TBC.
Roles and Responsibilities:
- To work with other members of the Performance Sport Team to promote and create a high-performance environment in which the individuals involved feel supported and valued.
- To work closely with the Charlton Athletic WSL Academy multi-disciplinary team feeding back regularly to the TASS lead and Academy Manager/ Head Coach.
- Be proficient in the administrative duties of the S&C delivery, providing key information in a timely manner to Performance Coordinator and any other stakeholders.
- Work in partnership with Charlton Athletic WSL Academy delivering best practice S&C coaching in line with the clubs' philosophies.
- Research current best practice in S&C and design appropriate programmes to ensure all athletes receive safe and effective training programmes.
- Lead on the delivery of gym and pitch based physical performance sessions tailored for differing needs of each-individual within the team.
- Produce and lead end stage rehabilitation sessions with injured athletes.
- Develop and lead on physical assessment procedures with athletes and ensure all data is recorded, interpreted and presented back to key stakeholders.
- Collaborate with the medical provision ensuring best practice injury prevention methods are conducted. Monitor athletes wellness and physical load throughout each week.
- Produce individual and team phase reports including readiness, recovery, training and conditioning data. Provide high level of interpretation, recommendation and feedback to coaches and medical department.
- Educate all performance athletes on recovery methods and effectiveness.
- Promote adherence to ethical guidelines and regulations with regard to drugs and doping in sport, in line with UK Anti-Doping (UKAD) guidelines.
- To work with the Charlton Athletic WSL Academy guiding a positive working relationship between King's College London and Charlton Athletic.
Experience / Skills
- You will have experience of working within a professional team sport, and in the provision of strength and conditioning services to high performance elite athletes.
- You should be experienced in player profiling, alongside developing, and delivering strategies to enhance physical development in football players
- Extensive knowledge of applied functional anatomy including demonstration of expert clinical reasoning skills is also required for this post.
- You will uphold a player centered approach throughout
- Be an adaptable communicator skilled at using behavior change techniques to maximize outcomes for individuals
- Be able to work effectively with members of the MDT and King's Sport & Wellness performance team
- Able to manage a diverse caseload, working individually and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
- Able to adapt to the demands of the job and needs of the players and staff.
- Strong IT skills with the ability to use e-mail, Word and PMA to a high standard.
- Dedicated to self-improvement and continuous professional development.
Qualifications
- You must hold UKSCA Accreditation
- A degree in Sport & Exercise science (or equivalent) or commensurate Performance Sport
- Must hold DBS, FA Safeguarding Children Course, UKAD Clean Sport Advisor or be willing to complete if appointed.
