Description

We are looking to recruit a Head of Sports Science.

Job Title : Head of Sports Science (F/T)
Reporting to : First Team Manager / General Manager

The position of Head of Sports Science is expected to be responsible for delivering a high-quality sports science and strength and conditioning services to members of Kilmarnock Football Club’s Men’s First Team. They will also be expected to oversee and give guidance on all Academy activity, to protect the pathway from our youth teams to first team. You will work closely with our Head of Medical and report to the First Team Manager & General Manager.

Main Responsibilities and Activities

• To work alongside the first team manager to plan, deliver and support the physical provision for all first team players.
• Lead a performance team and create an environment where peers are motivated to develop new ways of maximising the potential of players by bringing in new ideas with a creative approach and undertaking thorough research.
• Work in collaboration with the medical department for rehabilitation of first team players daily.
• To undertake regular CPD and training relevant for the role to progress the Sports Science department and medical provision.
• Contribute to ongoing staff and player education.
• Provide a holistic approach when working with individuals’ teams on physical development and performance.
• Be part of a multi-disciplinary team that works collaboratively to support the development of young people.
• To assist and provide support for the wider Sports Science team with any additional departmental needs covering U18s, Women’s First Team and Academy.
• To lead in the education of all players as required. E.g., injury prevention, recovery, and anti-doping etc.
• To assist with warmups and cool downs and individual squad conditioning sessions in partnership with the medical department when required.
• Other relevant duties as determined by the club.

Essential Knowledge & Experience

• MSc or Postgraduate Degree in Strength and Conditioning/Sports Science.
• Ba (Hons) or Undergraduate Degree in a relevant subject area.
• UKSCA Accreditation.
• Previous experience working with child / adolescent athletes.
• Minimum 5-years’ experience in football or an elite sporting environment.
• Strong communication skills with internal and external partners.
• Ability to work well as part for a multidisciplinary team.
• Forward-thinking and can work under minimal supervision.
• IT Literate
• Highly motivated, with a passion for working within an elite football setting.
