Main Responsibilities and Key Result Areas
As Head of Sports Science the individual will be responsible for the Sports Science provision of all first team players and management of all first team sports science support staff. This will include:
DAILY
1. Working as part of a multi-disciplinary team to optimise player physical development, health and performance.
2. Leading of sports science component of pre-training player and staff management meetings.
3. Assisting the medical team with the assessment, diagnosis, treatment & intervention of all first team players reporting any symptoms or discomfort.
4. Planning, preparing and implementing all activation, warm up, strength, recovery & nutrition components of the training session.
5. Assisting in the development of treatment plans of injured players to include progressive rehabilitation of injury, football and position specific fitness.
6. Liaison with medical, coaching and academy staff to ensure agreement & alignment of provision.
7. Management of sports science staff & external consultants to cater for the physical needs of both fit and injured players.
8. Communication and reports to management staff regarding player load in training.
9. Contributing to the effective implementation of individual injury prevention strategies.
10. Reporting of player availability and load updates to key stakeholders.
WEEKLY
- Review and evaluation of practices, procedures and protocols.
- Reporting of player attendance, loading and all relevant player information to key stakeholders.
- Planning & organisation of sports science provision for the following weeks training schedule.
MONTHLY
- Ensuring all sports science staff document and maintain detailed records of all actions in accordance with relevant legislation, policies and procedures.
- Developing methods to measure the impact of sports science in relation to first team performance.
ANNUAL
- Conducting appraisals with all sports science staff members.
- Ensuring all sports science staff qualifications, training and CPD requirements are kept up to date and in line with applicable regulations.
- Ensuring yourself and all sports science staff members meet the standards and code of conduct set by the governing body.
GENERAL
- Following all club policies such as Equity & Diversity, Health & Safety, Safeguarding, Anticorruption & Bribery and GDPR.
- Adherence to confidentiality in relation to information about Fleetwood Town Football Club and its operation.
