A unique and exciting opportunity has arisen for an ambitious, highly motivated leader to join us at Norwich City Football Club, as Head of Football Analytics, on a full-time, permanent contract.

Working closely with the Sporting Director, the Head of Football Analytics will be responsible for leading in the strategy, design and operational delivery of analytical support services that provide competitive advantages to all teams at Norwich City Football Club.

The successful candidate will lead in the development of the club's data infrastructure, including the aggregating and storage of data from multiple sources facilitating analysis, modelling and reporting across all aspects of the club’s football operation, delivering key insights to stakeholders at all levels of the organisation.

Key tasks/responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Provide strategic and operational leadership of the club's Football Analytics department.



  • Lead In the development of the club's data infrastructure, including the aggregating and storage of data from multiple sources facilitating analysis, modelling and reporting across recruitment, academy and all coaching and performance support functions.



  • Deliver key insights into stakeholders with varying degrees of technical and/or football knowledge



  • Maintain in-depth knowledge of industry standards and advancements across football analytics, tracking data analysis (multi-sport) and general AI and machine learning techniques



  • Evaluate and make purchasing recommendations on data feeds, third party tools and other relevant services


Qualifications/Experience

Essential

  • Minimum 3 years’ experience working full-time within football data (preferably within a club setting)

  • MSc Degree in a Data Science, Computer Science, Statistics or equivalent

  • In depth knowledge of football

  • Advanced knowledge of the current state of football analytics

  • Advanced knowledge of statistical modelling in either Python or R

  • Familiarity with cloud computing providers such as AWS or Snowflake

  • Excellent communication skills


Desirable

  • Familiarity with analysing large datasets such as tracking data

  • Familiarity with deep learning, LLMs and other advanced AI initiatives

  • Strategic leadership of a department.

  • Knowledge of data engineering best practices

  • Knowledge of data visualisation platforms and techniques
