We are currently on the lookout for a Head of Finance to join us here at Port Vale FC.

Job Title: Head of Finance
Full Time / Part-Time: Full Time
Reporting To: CEO

Role Purpose: The Head of Finance purpose is to take overall responsibility for the finance and accounting functions at Port Vale Football Club and Port Vale Football Club Foundation, ensuring robust financial management and sustainability. Reporting to the CEO and managing a team of four, the Head of Finance will actively develop and implement financial strategies to optimize revenue streams, control costs, and improve overall financial performance.

Key Accountabilities:


·  Ensure that the club meets all legal financial, VAT, PAYE, Payroll requirements.
·  Preparation of relevant football industry reports (e.g. SCMP, EPPP, Stadia Fund, Transfer Levy funding, etc) and ONS reporting
·  Prepare and maintain cashflow/budget forecasts and manage the cash requirements of the club.
·  Implement cost-saving measures and identify opportunities for revenue enhancement through commercial partnerships and fan engagement initiatives.
·  Compliance with Football Regulations.
·   Proactively provide the board of Directors with KPIs and insights about the business performance.
·  Reviewing business processes to identify improvements to maximise efficiencies and automation.
·  Work closely with the club’s head of departments, in order to improve accuracy and be able to recommend financial innovation and best practice.
·  Prepare the Financial Statements and manage the year end audit process.

Skills, Abilities & Experience:|

·  Fully qualified accountant (e.g. CIMA, ACCA, ACA) with significant post-qualified financial and operational management experience.
·  Ability to demonstrate experience with budgeting, forecasting, data analysis and risk management.
·  Excellent planning and organisational abilities.
·  Developing, improving and implementing financial procedures and controls
·  Commercial awareness with an interest in business and an understanding of how an organisation works and manages resources.
·  Excellence communication and relationships building skills
· Prior experience in a senior level role with responsibility in managing finance functions and business partnering.
·  Knowledge of charity accounting.
· High level of IT proficiency and advance knowledge of MS Excel, Venue Management System, SAGE and Quickbooks
·  Commercial awareness, attention to detail, proactivity and the ability to work with both Finance and non-Finance staff.
