Hull City have an exciting opportunity available for a Head of Emerging Talent. We are looking for someone who is passionate about young people and academy players, who will lead the emerging talent strategy and develop the processes needed to identify, scout and recommend players for signing into the Professional Development Phase (PDP).
As Head of Emerging Talent, you will have professional football experience, either domestic or international, and up to date knowledge of all relevant regulations for signing and recruiting players.
Position Type: Permanent, Full time
Hours: 37.5 hours per week, to include evenings and weekends as and when required
Location: MKM Stadium, Hull HU3 6HU, travel will be required within the role and will be reimbursed
Salary/Pay: Dependent upon experience

Your key responsibilities
- Lead the Emerging Talent recruitment strategy ensuring that players are profiled / identified, scouted (live or via WyScout) and reported on (iSF)
- Lead on the Talent ID and Scouting, Trialing and Recruitment process of suitable players who will support and / or strengthen the PDP groups
- Collaborate with the Academy Manager, Head of Strategic Analysis and Recruitment (HoSA&R) and relevant staff members to ensure the best decisions are made for the Club
- Work primarily with the Data Analyst, Chief Scout, and Academy Manager in gathering market intelligence to identify Professional Development Phase (u17-u20) transfer targets (specific players and / or clubs) using all available resources.
- work in a coordinated manner with the team (Data Analyst / Chief Scout / Academy Manager / Technical Scouts) and collaborate on the management of the Club’s scouting network.
- Develop and maintain a network of contacts that can support the identification of emerging talent, as well as to maximise this network in supporting the Club’s Loan Strategy & Exit Routes for PDP players
What are we looking for?We are looking for someone who is enthusiastic and passionate about young people and academy / senior football. As Head of Emerging Talent you will have previous experience in developing and executing strategies, with the ability to work to strict deadlines along with a reactive approach to the continually evolving nature of professional football. Due to these time constraints, you will have excellent time management and organisational skills.
We are looking for someone who has working knowledge of video analysis / editing software; Sportscode, HUDL, Wyscout, StatsPerform (iSF).
Essential
- Minimum FA Talent ID Level 3 qualification (or International equivalent)
- Professional Football Experience (Domestic or International)
- Up to date knowledge of Government, FIFA, UEFA, and FA rules and regulations in signing and recruiting players
- High level of football tactical and technical understanding with an excellent knowledge of the game and the ability to interpret and report on live / recorded match events
- Experience of working within a multi-disciplinary team environment (preferably with elite Professional Development Phase players)
- Full UK Driving Licence
- The safeguarding and welfare of our players is paramount and as such this position is subject to the Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS)
Desirable
- BSc (Hons.) Degree or similar in sports related subject
- A leadership and management qualification
- UEFA B Coaching Licence or equivalent
- Full-time experience in the identification of young players for academy football or similar role
- Detailed knowledge of academy and youth football
- Minimum of 3 years post qualification experience working an elite sporting environment (ideally professional football) in a scouting and recruitment department.
