Description

Job Title: Head of Education

Hours: 20 per week
Salary: £15,000

 

About the Role

The Head of Education is responsible for planning, organising, and monitoring the Club Academy Education programmes. This includes creating individual and innovative support systems for academy players and overseeing the SEP apprenticeship programme. The role ensures the education and welfare of academy players are prioritised while upholding high standards of delivery and compliance with EFL and LFE regulations.

 

Key Responsibilities

Education Programme Management

  • Plan, organise, and monitor the Club Academy Education programmes.
  • Create and manage individual support programmes for academy players.
  • Write the club’s Education Philosophy.
  • Complete the education section of the Academy Performance Plan.
  • Develop and maintain an effective education timetable that supports the needs of Apprentices and Academy Schoolboys.
  • Ensure that players' education is not compromised by academy involvement.

Apprenticeship Oversight

  • Coordinate and oversee the SEP apprenticeship programme.
  • Ensure appropriate management and support of Apprentices in relation to their End Point Assessments (EPA).
  • Maintain EMS registers and monitor attendance for all education sessions.
  • Monitor timely completion of BKSB Maths resources and adherence to LFE’s English and Maths strategy.
  • Liaise with SEP Coordinator, A-Level, BTEC, Functional Skills, and ALS tutors to track progression and intervene as needed.
  • Attend SEP education sessions twice monthly to build relationships with stakeholders.

Safeguarding and Welfare

  • Work closely with the Designated Safeguarding Officer and Player Care Manager to ensure a safe and inclusive environment.
  • Respond to and record educational concerns from parents or guardians.
  • Lead delivery of induction and parental seminars to support player development.

Liaison and Stakeholder Engagement

  • Build and maintain strong relationships with parents, schools, and education delivery partners.
  • Liaise with the LFE Regional Officer for compliance and monitoring.
  • Work with club staff to complete Apprentice Progress Reviews in line with LFE guidance.

Documentation and Compliance

  • Ensure all required documents and records for academy players are in place and up to date per EFL YD Rules.
  • Complete the PGAAC Education Compliance and CASA Standards section.
  • Support the Club Hybrid Monitoring Support Document and Standards Monitoring Document completion.
  • Ensure Year 10 & 11 Schoolboys are tracked against GCSE targets and receive intervention support where needed.

Quality Assurance

  • Oversee effective classroom provision and ensure high standards in player behaviour and classroom management.
  • Manage procurement and appropriate use of teaching resources and equipment.
  • Monitor and evaluate education delivery to ensure quality across all sessions.

CPD and Internal Collaboration

  • Identify, coordinate, and monitor CPD for club education staff.
  • Attend Multi-Disciplinary Team meetings and Programme Review meetings.
  • Inform management of key outcomes and implement necessary actions.

Additional Duties

  • Attend conferences, meetings, training courses, and related events as directed.
  • Liaise with the Club’s Community Organisation where appropriate.
  • Support 1st team players and contribute to club national/international partnerships as required.
  • Undertake any additional duties requested by the Academy Director, Technical Director, or Chief Executive.
