Description

Heart of Midlothian is a Scottish Premiership Football Club based in Edinburgh with Elite Academy Status. The Performance School Programme, based at Balerno Community High School offers several of our Academy players the opportunity to combine their studies and football education. The Club has an exciting opportunity for a highly motivated individual to lead the Balerno Performance School programme.

The role holder will be responsible for managing and coordinating the effective delivery of the football and academic education programme to Academy players enrolled in the school, alongside coaching a Youth Academy age group. This is an exciting opportunity for someone who has previous experience working within an Elite Football Academy and / or performance school environment and displays a passion for individual player development and education.

Key Responsibilities:

• Develop and deliver a football curriculum to support the individual development of players at all age groups within the Balerno Performance School programme.
• Promote the holistic development of young players and people within the programme and the integration of all players into the wider school.
• Promote a high-performance culture, promoting the values of the programme and holding players accountable to the Club Player Code of Conduct.
• Create individual player development plans and ensure players are held accountable to this daily.
• Assist in providing regular feedback and updates on player progress through individual player meetings, and parent/carer and player review meetings.
• Develop and maintain strong working relationships with academy players, staff, parents/carers, and teachers at Balerno Performance School.
• Create a positive and safe environment for player development to maximize potential.
• Organise and support daily transportation of academy players between, transport hubs, Balerno Performance School and the Academy as required.
• Coach within the Youth Academy age groups, encompassing three evening training sessions and weekend game.

Essential Qualifications, Experience & Requirements:

• Elite UEFA Youth License (or working towards).
• Previous experience of working within an Elite Football Academy and creating Individual Development Plans.
• Previous experience of line management responsibilities.
• Currently based in Edinburgh or can reliably commute to Edinburgh and other locations as per the needs of the position.
• Legal right to work in the UK.
• Valid UK driving license.
• Scottish FA Advanced Children’s License and or UEFA A License (Desirable).

• A strong work ethic with a passion for developing young people.
• Excellent timekeeping and the ability to manage own time effectively.
• A high standard of professionalism and confidentiality.
• Confident IT user with basic computer skills, particularly relating to Microsoft Word and Excel.

The role will have regular contact with children, and it is therefore required by law to have a Protection of Vulnerable Groups (PVG) check through Disclosure Scotland as a condition of employment.
