Description

The Head of Academy Recruitment’s primary role is to recruit the best potential talent across London and Kent for the Foundation, Youth Development and Professional Development Phase. The post holder will be responsible for the coordination of a team of scouts.

Key responsibilities:

· Develop clearly defined and effective Talent Identification and Recruitment policies and procedures.

· Implement and maintain the Premier League’s ‘Elite Player Performance Plan’ (EPPP) rules and regulations for the Academy Recruitment department.

· Maintain a good understanding of the EFL and FA regulations relevant to Academy Recruitment.

· Identify and establish viable targets in positions for each age group throughout the Academy for the Academy Succession Plan.

· Identify and establish good relationships with Millwall’s First Team Recruitment Department, local grassroots teams, schools and Millwall’s Community Trust.

· Work closely with the Head of Academy Coaching to create and maintain Academy Depth Charts.

· Build a network of Academy Scouts and contacts, to give training, support and direction to those Scouts on a day-to-day basis to ensure that they carry out their role effectively.

· Contribute to the decision-making process when signing, retaining, and releasing players through the Academy Management Team.

· Keep accurate records and statistics of scouted players and scout productivity.

· Produce reports for the Academy Director.

· Hold quarterly Scout Meetings that include internal and external CPD.

· Be a member of the Academy Strategy Team and actively contribute to weekly meetings.

· Promote safeguarding within the organisation and create a safe and inclusive environment for all. Report any safeguarding concerns as and when required.

· Ensure all Scouts adhere to the Scout Code of Conduct.

Essential / Desired Requirements:

The Qualifications:

· Must hold the FA Advanced Principles of Talent Identification & Development in Football (Level 3) or higher

· Must have experience of identifying players appropriate for a professional football club/academy

· Experience of using the PMA system

· Network of contacts within the game

· Safeguarding Children Certificate

· Hold an enhanced CRB/DBS certificate

· Desirable: a full driving license and have the use of a vehicle

· Due to the nature of the role, evenings and weekend work will be necessary.
