Job Summary:

To oversee the implementation and development of the Burnley FC coaching curriculum methodology and
game model including the measurement and evaluation of all academy teams and players. To work with
the First Team and Academy departments to ensure integration and collaboration between departments.
Develop best practices within the clubs playing and coaching methodology to ensure performance targets
are met.

Location: Training Ground, Burnley

Roles and Responsibilities:

• Work in conjunction with Academy staff to ensure that the Burnley FC Academy Performance Plan strategy is efficiently and effectively implemented.
• Work alongside the Academy Manager to implement and measure the game model and coaching curriculum for Burnley FC.
• To assist the coaching department with the delivery, appraisal and development of training sessions in line with the Club’s coaching curriculum and game model.
• Work with the Performance Analysis department to objectively evaluate the game models and coaching methodology.
• Work collaboratively with different departments, including Player Recruitment, Education, Analysis and Sports Science/Medicine staff in order to ensure all stakeholders understand the methodology and its implementation into the overall strategy and daily decision-making.
• Measure the coaching curriculum and game model document that sets out the Club’s playing philosophy via written descriptions, images, video and data.
• Ensure the game model and coaching curriculum aligns with the overall vision and strategy for the Club.
• Ensure alignment of coaching delivery and appraisals across the Academy Coaching department.
• Create robust and comprehensive rating systems and other visualisations to provide up to date insightful information for the First Team department.
• Oversee the development of strong relationships with other football club’s internationally, nationally and locally as well as other key organisations (i.e. National Associations) to assist with the continued development of the Academy Coaching staff.
• To establish a sustainable system and approach to coach and player development within the Academy.
• Work alongside the Academy Manager to measure the performance of Academy Coaches and Player Development.
• Undertake self-development to ensure knowledge in relation to all aspects of coaching and coach development is up-to-date to enable forward thinking.

Salary: Competitive

• Coach occasionally to maintain ‘hands on’ competence.
• Provide occasional cover for absent coaches.
• Provide a clear, up-to-date training needs analysis (TNA) of every individual coach’s current and required level of performance and create development action plans in relation to this.
• Observe coach performance and provide feedback to aid development and an effective appraisal system.
• Ensure every coach has a personalised development action plans that is tailored to meet their needs and which they buy-in to as a ‘living’ document.
• Ensure the qualification status of the Club’s coaching workforce is assessed and ensure all coaches hold required qualifications for their role and age group and have a continuous professional development plan to ensure licensing is up-to-date.
• Implement a Club Specific Coach Competency Framework (CCF) to monitor and evaluate coaches in order to develop development action plans and group coach development opportunities.
• Managing the day-to-day performance of Lead Phase Coaches.

The role

An exciting opportunity has become available for an organised and engaging Head of Academy Coaching at a pivotal time of transition and change for Burnley Football Club.

The person

The ideal candidate will possess their UEFA A coaching licence and have experience of working within an Academy. They will also need to have a flexible approach to work and be able to work evenings and weekends.

Role expectations

The Head of Academy Coaching will be expected to implement and develop the Burnley FC Academy coaching curriculum working closely with other departments at the Club.
