Description

PURPOSE OF THE ROLE

The Graphic Designer is responsible for bringing the Football Association of Wales’s strong brand and sub brands to life. The role will be responsible for producing and delivering high-level designs and creative concepts, that align with brand guidelines, for several different departments including: FAW, international teams, grassroots, domestic leagues, commercial, and governance. This role will require someone who can work well in a fast-paced environment to tight-deadlines, bring their creative ideas to life, and collaborate effectively and respectfully. We are looking for someone who is deeply passionate about the work they produce, understand the importance of brand, and have a willingness to make a difference.

KEY AREAS OF ACCOUNTABILITY & RESPONSIBILITY

DESIGN

  • Produce high-level creatives (for online and offline channels) for all aspects relating to the FAW brands, to promote, protect and develop football in Wales.



  • Design assets for a number of departments for different audiences and topics, including: international teams & ticket campaigns, domestic leagues, grassroots, referees, PAWB campaigns, commercial, governance etc.



  • Knowledge & flexibility to work on a variety of design media including but not limited to: large scale stadium branding, social media and digital graphics, printed booklets, proposals.



  • Produce match-day assets & branding for a wide range of formats. For example: social media graphics and templates, LED advertising & big screen assets, stadia branding.



  • Produce high-quality sponsorship sales proposals and presentation decks.



  • Put creative concepts together that fit within the FAW’s brand guidelines to establish brand consistency, keeping in mind tone of voice, style, colour, and quality.



  • Assist the Marketing Manager in putting together agency design briefs for specific projects.



  • Liaise with internal staff to determine design project deliverables and timelines.



  • Actively stay up to date with trends and tools to suggest new ideas, based on inspiration and best practices from other industries and the world of design and sport.



  • Have the ability to stay organised with incoming briefs and maintain a library of all past work and ongoing projects.


BRAND

  • Have a full and detailed understanding of the FAW brand, its implementation and connection with all brands within the organisation.



  • Play a key role in continuing to grow and develop the FAW brand and sub brands.



  • Play a key role in ensuring brand consistency across the organisation, internally and externally. Assist the Marketing Manager in approvals of artwork relating to the brand.



  • Assist in the distribution of branded assets both internally and with external stakeholders, which may include brand guidelines, templates, resources to ensure brand and visual consistency throughout the FAW’s communication.



  • Play a key role in brand asset management, ensuring all FAW and stakeholder brand assets are easily accessible.



  • Look for ways to streamline and improve brand processes.

PERSON SPECIFICATION

EXPERIENCE

  • 2-3 years of experience working full-time in an in-house creative department or in an agency.



  • Be very proficient in Adobe Creative Suite (Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign and After Effects) with an attitude to continue improving on those skills.



  • Must have a portfolio of digital and print work to showcase a wide range of skills from graphics, photo editing, logo design, typography, motion graphics, conceptualizing, proposals etc.


KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & BEHAVIOURS

  • Have a strong knowledge of a range of media including print, digital (including social media, website, email, app), motion.



  • Have the ability to produce several options based on a brief, present concepts and final solutions, based on feedback.



  • Can ensure the work is delivered efficiently on time and to brief.



  • Passion and enthusiasm for design, with an ability to think creatively.



  • A flexible approach when working in a team.



  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.



  • ​Excellent time management skills with the ability to cope with several projects at once. Existing use of Trello or Asana to track and prioritise workflow would be advantageous.



  • Excellent communication skills to interpret and negotiate briefs with colleagues and clients.



  • Good presentation skills and the confidence to explain and sell ideas to clients and colleagues.



  • Accuracy and attention to detail when finalising designs.



  • Being open to feedback and willing to make changes to your designs.



  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite, Outlook, Word, Powerpoint/Keynote and Excel.


DESIRABLE REQUIREMENTS

  • Knowledge and experience of the working in football / sports industry.



  • Knowledge and understanding of Adobe Premier Pro.



  • Understanding of Figma / other software.



  • Daily use of Asana to manage briefs and projects.


ROLE SPECIFIC REQUIREMENTS

  • The ability to speak Welsh would be advantageous.



  • Must be able to work non-traditional hours, and be effective at working remotely and on-site on matchdays.

  • The appointment of the successful candidate will be subject to an enhanced DBS check and two professional / personal references, to the satisfaction of the FAW. In addition, the FAW will ask to see evidence of right to work in the UK.
