We support Southampton by delivering projects that respond to the ever-evolving needs of the people of our city. Through our Gender Equality area of work, we aim to support women and girls to be safe, and to develop skills and aspirations for the future.

The purpose of this role is to drive forward our Gender Equality work as part of one of our key focus areas, coordinating delivery against projects in this area and driving female participation across all areas of work within Saints Foundation, ensuring women and girls have equal opportunities in all aspects of our work.

What will you be doing?

The role will include overseeing the coordination and delivery of our Gender Equality projects, working closely with local stakeholders and partners to inspire young women to develop opportunities for their future and develop initiatives which tackle gender based discrimination in our community.

You will work in collaboration with your Saints Foundation colleagues to ensure that there is equal representation of female participants, coaches and volunteers across all areas of work and coordinate opportunities for Southampton FC’s Women’s First team players to engage in our projects and support beneficiaries to connect with Southampton Football Club.

The role will involve engaging and consulting with the local community and partners in order to improve the delivery of opportunities and services at a local level. This role will involve making a real difference and so the ideal candidate will be driven and passionate about Gender Equality and making changes that matter.

Essential Skills:

  • A passion for championing gender equality and tackling the root-causes of inequality.

  • Experience of successfully delivering community-based projects, that is demonstrated through the achievement of KPIs and Outcomes.

  • Experience in leading and inspiring a team of staff and volunteers to achieve team results.

  • Experience in developing partnerships and/or experience of being able to build connections within local communities.

Desirable skills:

  • We’re looking for someone who has the ability to develop small group interventions, but we’re flexible on your qualification. You could hold a UEFA C License (previously known as FA Level 2) or another sport and/or Level 2 Youth Work qualification, however your experience working with our target groups is far more valuable, so don’t let this be a barrier to applying.

  • Experience of engaging specific target groups.

  • Have excellent communication and organisation skills.

What we can do for you?

Giving you the right balance in your life is important to us, and our benefits are designed to complement this – from 2 free match tickets for every home league game, free breakfast and afternoon snacks on site, discounts at local shops and restaurants, an Employee Assistance Programme and mental health first aiders for when things get tough, to specialist support with professional development and access to a world of internal and external training courses and professional qualifications.
