Job title: Football Scout
Department: Senior Recruitment
Based at: Senior Training Centre, Brockhall Village, Blackburn, BB6 8FA. Flexibility regarding location is required.
Reports to: Chief Scout
Responsible for: N/A
Hours of work: 40 hours per week, plus any additional hours necessary for the performance of duties. This will include evening and weekend work.
Contractual status: Permanent
Job purpose: To contribute towards and assist the Club’s talent identification, recruitment strategy and data analysis efforts, combining advanced scouting techniques, datadriven insights, and video analysis to evaluate potential players.
Duties and responsibilities:
To be committed to ensuring the safeguarding and welfare of all elite players, promoting their well-being needs whilst maintaining professional boundaries;
Scout and assess players across domestic and international markets, aligning with the club’s strategic recruitment objectives;
Provide detailed analysis of players' technical, tactical, physical, and
psychological attributes;
Utilise advanced scouting platforms, data analytics tools, and video analysis software to identify emerging talent and assess performance trends.
Collaborate with the analytics department to integrate data-driven insights into player evaluations;
Build and maintain strong networks with clubs and other scouts to stay informed about the player market;
Produce comprehensive, high-quality reports on potential recruits, offering clear recommendations to the recruitment team;
Work closely with the recruitment department to ensure a seamless transition for new signings;
Support the implementation of the club’s long-term player development strategy; and
Stay updated on global football trends, emerging leagues, and untapped talent pools to ensure Blackburn Rovers remains competitive in the player market.
Skills required:
Proven experience in a scouting or recruitment role within professional football;
In-depth understanding of modern football tactics, player development, and performance metrics;
Proficiency with scouting software (e.g., Wyscout, Impect, Eyeball, Scoutastic) and familiarity with advanced data analytics platforms;
Strong communication and presentation skills, with the ability to deliver clear, concise reports;
A proactive, adaptable approach to work, with the ability to thrive under pressure in a dynamic environment;
Knowledge required:
Extensive knowledge of domestic and international football markets.
Qualifications required:
Proven track record of working within a scouting/recruitment position in an elite sporting environment;
Coaching certifications - UEFA B Licence or higher (desirable);
Talent ID qualification;
Multilingual (desirable)
DBS check required: Yes
