An exciting opportunity has arisen within the medical department at Stockport County Football Club (Football Education). Reporting to the Head of Academy Medicine, this post is open to qualified physiotherapists, sports therapists, and sports rehabilitators.
The role will require the individual to assist in the medical management of both the players in the Football Education (FE) program. This consists of players aged U16 - U18 who combine studies with playing football. This role includes injury assessment, diagnosis, management, and prevention strategies in line with evidence-based practice. The successful candidate will provide first aid medical cover for FE training and home & away games.
We are looking for someone to be passionate about adolescent sports physio/therapy in football with a drive to develop your knowledge and expertise. In return you will be part of a new and progressive multi-disciplinary team with regular CPD opportunities and part of a developing football education program. You will also have opportunities to provide mentoring to students from our partnership universities.
The normal place of work is Stockport Sports Village, Woodley, Stockport. SK6 1QX. However, there is expectancy to work from time to time at our other training ground and match day facilities.
Essential:
Qualified therapist with appropriate governing body registration (HCPC/CSP/BASRAT/MSST)
ITMMIF qualification or equivalent
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with an ability to use a variety of communication tools. .
Team player who can work well within an MDT of football coaches, sports scientists, nutritionists, and other medical practitioners.
Strong organisational and administrative skills.
DBS check with children’s barred list check
UK driving licence.
Reliable and committed to working flexible hours.
Good understanding of sporting injuries and commonly avoidable injuries.
Understanding of current clinical guidelines and relevant legislation.

recent and relevant professional experience in sports performance environment.
Tasks and Responsibilities:
To co-ordinate and provide accurate evidence based diagnosis and rehabilitation to all players in the FE.
To co-ordinate and provide emergency match day cover.
To accompany players to medical appointments, providing clinical handovers pre and post appointments.
To assist the Academy Head of Medicine in co-ordinating screening for FE players.
To take an active role in medical, MDT and planning meetings
To plan and develop effective pre and rehabilitation programmes for players based on screening outcomes in line with the most up to date academic and clinical evidence across all age groups.
To monitor the effectiveness of injury management principles through clinical injury audits.
To ensure effective, appropriate communication of injury updates are provided to player, coaches and the wider MDT.
To maintain a flexible approach to work at all times including the requirement to undertake other duties and responsibilities as required.
To ensure all medical notes are up to date within 24 hours of treatment and in line with HCPC standards.
Manage and build relationships with all key stakeholders in line with the clubs values.
