Role Purpose:

Working within the Performance Support department, this role will work in collaboration with other First Team analysts to provide the Men’s First Team manager, coaching and playing staff insights on our set piece performance. The role requires support to embed and evolve the agreed set piece philosophy across the football club and wider Sport Republic group.

What will you be doing?

You will liaise with and support the Men’s First Team Set Piece Coach and will be responsible for leading the set piece analysis for the Men’s First Team to ensure the First Team Analysis department requirements are met.

For training and matchday performance, you will analyse and interpret video and data to present insightful data for individual and set piece performance in alignment with agreed Sport Republic models and metrics. Along with this, you will collaboratively analyse live match day performance to ensure informed feedback to the first team coaching staff and players.

You will be responsible for leading the generation and maintenance of video set piece databases, from training and matchday performance, whilst collaborating with Sport Republic on set piece research and insights projects across HUDL and DropBox.

Other duties include:

• Project lead the set piece element of the Southampton Football Club Playbook.


• Monitor and analyse global set piece performance to translate into meaningful intelligence capable of impacting performance at Southampton Football Club, and support Sport Republic clubs.


• Supporting the collection and management of training analysis, to provide performance insights.


• Supporting football research projects


• Leading the First Team work placement student programme and delivering an educational pathway for their development.


• Attendance of agreed first team fixtures.

Is this you?

Essential Experience:

• Minimum of three years’ experience in elite performance analysis.


• A high level understanding of data science and the application of insights.


• Industry experience of live feedback.


• Experience to the delivery of communicating performance insights to key stakeholders.


• The ability of effectively communicate and problem solve when under pressure.


• Exceptional interpersonal skills that align to a high-performance environment.
