Job title: First Team Physiotherapist
Department: Senior Medical Department
Based at: Senior Training Centre, Brockhall Village, Blackburn, BB6 8FA. Flexibility regarding location is required.
Reports to: Head of Medical Services
Responsible for: N/A
Hours of work: 40 hours per week plus any additional hours necessary for the performance of duties. This will include evening and weekend work.
Contractual Status: Permanent
Salary: Commensurate with skills, knowledge and experience.
Job purpose: To plan and coordinate the rehabilitation for of all professional players within the first team squad.
Duties and responsibilities:
To be committed to ensuring the safeguarding and welfare of all elite players, promoting their well-being needs whilst maintaining professional boundaries;
To be committed to ensuring the safeguarding and welfare of all staff, customers and clients of the Club;
To lead and coordinate in the medical diagnosis, treatment and rehabilitation of all professional players within the first team squad;
Coordinate the transition of all injured professional players within the first team squad back into first team training in conjunction with all other members of the Senior Medical Department and Athletic Development/ Sports Science Department;
To maintain up to date medical records in line with MCSP;
To organise scans and external treatment as required;
Keep up to date with any necessary mandatory training relevant for this position;
Ensure best practice is followed at all times and players are receiving optimal advice;
To assist and lead departmental in-service training as and when required;
Assist in the education of players in relation to terms of injury prevention, injury care, post-match recovery, and drug awareness;
Be an active participant in collecting objective in-season markers and pre-season testing;
To assist with the cool down, strength, movement re-training and stretching sessions with squads or groups of players as required by the department;
Provide written reports and daily communication to the Senior Medical Department on the rehabilitation status of the injured players under your care.
Maintain standards of clinical hygiene and cleanliness within the department areas;
Develop, lead and implement Injury mitigation strategies across the first team squad.
Lead and Individualise First team pre activation;
Lead and liaise with Sports Science for modifications with strength
programming;
Lead and coordinate departmental CPD throughout season;
Contribute to department innovation to ensure cutting edge of Sports
Medicine;
Assist with development of BRFC ‘Operating Manual’ for rehabilitation;
Assist with Injury audit;
To support in providing first aid cover for first team matches and training as required;
Provide soft tissue treatment for the first team squad at all training sessions and home and away matches as required; and
Any other duties as reasonably assigned by the Head of Medical Services.

To be able to work independently and also under the guidance of the Head of Medical when required.
Knowledge required:
Previous knowledge and experience in the diagnosis, treatment and
rehabilitation of professional athletes;
Experience of leading a rehabilitation service in a professional sporting environment;
Experience of implementing objective testing on a day to day basis as part of the rehabilitation package for injured players; and
Experience of leading emergency aid in a professional sporting environment.
Qualifications required:
Proven track record of working in a medical environment within an elite sporting environment;
BSc (Hons) in Physiotherapy or relevant subject field (essential);
FA Level 5 ATMMiF Certificate (essential); and
MSc in a related area near completion acceptable (desirable).
