Job title: First Team Performance Analyst
Department: Senior Performance Analysis
Based at: BRFC Senior Training Centre, BB6 8FA. Flexibility regarding location is required.
Reports to: Head of Performance Analysis
Responsible for: N/A
Hours of work: A minimum of 37.5 hours per week plus any additional hours necessary for the performance of duties. This may include evening and weekend work.
Contractual status: Permanent
Job purpose: To lead the preparation and delivery of detailed and insightful opposition analysis as part of Blackburn Rovers Football Club’s performance analysis service.
Duties and responsibilities:
To be committed to ensuring the safeguarding and welfare of all stakeholders, promoting their well-being whilst maintaining professional boundaries;
Produce informed insights (using both data and video) on upcoming opposition for the First Team Head Coach and Coaching Staff in line with their requirements;
Produce a detailed video report for the First Team Head Coach, coaching staff, and players using relevant video analysis platforms and telestration tools;
Liaise with other Performance Analysis staff members to ensure all other opposition resources specific to forthcoming opposition are to be delivered;
To lead team performance and game plan review on match days;
Support wider team focused performance analysis (Training, Pre, live, postmatch, individual development) – where required;
Maintain a positive approach to learning new skills required to work with any new equipment / IT appliances;
Maintain the highest regard for confidentiality with sensitive information; and
In addition to your normal duties, to undertake additional/other reasonable duties as necessary to meet the needs of the First Team Head Coach, coaching staff and/or Performance Analysis department.
Skills required:
Demonstrable skills and proven track record of working as a performance analyst in an elite sporting environment;
Competent with the following software/resources: Hudl Sportscode, Hudl Studio (or similar), Wyscout, Keynote/Microsoft Office; StatsBomb desirable
Clear communication and presentation skills (both written and verbal) to a range of audiences;
Organisation and time management; - Ability to meet strict deadlines;
Ability to work independently and as part of a team; and
A passion to constantly improve through keeping up to date with industry developments and CPD opportunities.
Knowledge required:
High level of football tactical and technical understanding; and
Previous experience working within an elite sporting environment, in particular in relation to Individual development and/or pre-match opposition analysis.
Desirable; Experience and knowledge of the EFL Championship.
Qualifications required:
Essential; Undergraduate degree in Performance Analysis / Sports Science / Sports Coaching or a similar degree subject; MSc-Desirable
UEFA B Licence (desirable); and
Valid UK Driving Licence (desirable).
