First Team Lead Recruitment Analyst

Derby County Football Club, established in 1884, is one of the founder members of the English Football League and has a rich and varied history, including two First Division titles in 1972 and 1975 and an FA Cup success in 1946. The club are currently playing in the Sky Bet Championship, the second tier of English Football following their promotion from League One in the 2023/24 season and is under the management of Head Coach John Eustace. The club also boasts a successful and respected Category One Academy, a status which has been held since 2014, and a Women’s side competing in the FA Women’s National League Northern Premier Division. Derby County recently embarked on an exciting new era following the change in ownership to Clowes Developments (UK) Limited, in the summer of 2022. Our track record of producing talent is outstanding, and we intend to protect that proud legacy, investing in key roles within the club to build on the foundations in place for success.

Derby County Football Club is seeking to recruit a Lead Recruitment Analyst to join our Category One Academy at Moor Farm. The role will support the First Team Recruitment department with talent identification. The successful candidate will have to continue to build the recruitment departments Power Apps and Power BI dashboards and databases. The role will require a strong understanding of the use of statistic and data in football, as well as excellent presentation skills to produce accurate and easy to understand visualizations. The role will involve working closely with the club’s data team and Sporting Intelligent department to further develop the club’s recruitment apps. The successful candidate must also be proficient on Sportscode and video editing software to produce player highlight packages and profiles.

Key Responsibilities

To identify, monitor, and assist in recruiting players suitable to DCFC.

To build on, and maintain, the clubs Power BI and Power Apps Databases.

To create and maintain statistical databases that assist with the recruitment of players.

To produce player profiles (video and statistical) to strict deadlines.

Create and maintain DCFC specific player performance profiles and scores.

To scout players both live and on video

Maintain club depth charts and shortlists.

Complete unique recruitment analysis projects and studies as and when required.

Excellent ability to build visualizations using Power BI and Power Apps

Ability to prioritise and manage own workload

Work using own initiative and as part of a team

Strong ICT Skill and experience using Microsoft Word and Excel

Proficient coding languages such as Python or R (desirable)

Understanding of Power BI (desirable)

 

Essential Experience

 

Experience using Power BI/Apps to create visualisations

Minimum of 3 years’ experience in Football Analysis(desirable)

Experience writing reports using systems such as Scoutastic/Opta (desirable)

Record of recommending players that have succeeded in the EFL (desirable)

Experience using statistical from providers such as StatsBomb

Experience using video systems such as Wyscout

Experience using data to highlight or compare players

Experience using SportsCode to clip games and produce profiles

Experience scouting players in live games to complete reports (desirable)

 

Qualifications

 

FA Talent ID level 3 (desirable)

MSc or Equivalent qualification in Performance Analysis or Data Science

Full UK driving License

Competitive salary, dependent on experience

 

The role is full-time, working 35 hours per week. Due to the demands of a professional football environment, working evenings and weekends is required
