This is an exciting time at Newcastle United and we are looking for talented individuals to help us on our journey. To help us deliver on our ambitious plans we have a fantastic opportunity for a number of international scouts to join our growing player recruitment team.

Applicants must currently reside in (or within travelling distance) the geographical clusters.

You will act as an ambassador for Newcastle United in your specific region, leading on the identification and assessment of emerging talent and first team targets. Working closely with the UK based Scouting Coordinator and Recruitment Operations Manager you will recommend appropriate high-quality talent in line with the Club strategy and process.

The successful candidate must have extensive demonstrable experience in talent assessment and identification within elite professional football and a strong network in their respective locations. Expert knowledge of football including game models, playing styles and profiles of technical, tactical, physical, and psychological traits within the potential targets is critical.

A strong understanding of how understanding data insight can contribute to the development of recruitment and the ability to accurately analyse and assess player potential / ability are essential.

Due to the nature of this role the ability to travel locally and internationally (including to the UK) is essential.

RESPONSIBLE TO: First Team and Emerging Talent Recruitment Department Operations Manager

RESPONSIBLE FOR: No direct reports

JOB SUMMARY

Act as a representative, ambassador and advocate for the club designated country, leading on the identification and assessment of emerging players at first team and emerging talent levels. Work closely with the Head of Technical Scouting and the First Team and Emerging Talent Recruitment Department Operations Manager to recommend first team and emerging talent producing high quality daily reports on identified potential targets within the recruitment workflow, adhering to club strategy.

ROLE RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Operate within the desired framework, profile, and methodology as set by the Club.

  • Attend and observe games and tournaments at varying levels (live and video).

  • Complete detailed reports on target players.

  • Proactively conduct in-depth research into leagues and identified players for Newcastle United.

  • Collate extensive information/references regarding the potential players and ensure that all information is shared appropriately to achieve alignment to the recruitment strategy

  • Produce credible, coherent and timely monthly positional lists on emerging talents and first team players.

  • Regularly travel to games and meetings within the designated countries.

  • There may be cross referencing of potential targets from other countries through video work and on occasions through live games.

  • Attend recruitment meetings at Newcastle United facilities, when necessary.

  • Create a network of contacts to support the scouting process and to allow the opportunity to gain intelligence quickly.

  • Understand and comply fully with the rules and code of conduct for scouts, and approach recruitment with adherence to the Club values.

  • Adhere to any other reasonable requests that meet the needs of the business.


ROLE REQUIREMENTS

  • Perform duties with due regard to club policies and procedures and legislative requirements at all times;

  • Ensure implementation of the clubs’ health & safety, safeguarding, welfare and equality policies to create a safe working environment for all;

  • Ensure working practices are compliant with relevant legislation and data protection legislation and/or general data protection regulations (GDPR) requirements;

  • Undertake continuous professional development (CPD) training and/or additional training as identified or as required.


QUALIFICATION & TRAINING

Essential 

  • Driving Licence.

  • FA Level 2 Talent ID / equivalent qualifications abroad or significant experience working in a similar role in a professional club.


Desirable

  • UEFA coaching certification Pro, A or B license.

  • FA level 3 Talent ID

  • Degree in a related field or equivalent experience


KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & EXPERIENCE

Essential

  • Extensive demonstrable experience of talent assessment and identification within elite professional football.

  • Experience of working within an elite football/sporting organisation as a coach, analyst, or scout.

  • Expert knowledge of football (game models, playing styles and profiles of technical, tactical, physical, psychological traits within the potential targets)

  • Proven ability to accurately analyse & assess players & their ability/potential

  • A good understanding of how data insight can contribute to the development of recruitment.

  • Experience of report writing for an elite level football club.

  • Ability to organise a pre-planned schedule highlighting specific targets and games within designated area which is communicated clearly to the Recruitment Coordinator and Operations Manager

  • Ability to work in a fast moving and changing environment with the flexibility to adapt to market changes and club requirements.

  • Ability to retain a very high standard of output whilst working within strict and expeditious deadlines.

  • Demonstrate honesty, integrity, reliability, and the ability to ensure confidentiality at all times

  • Excellent communication skills, able to build and maintain relationships and influence people with all levels of role, personality, culture and positions.

  • Have a flexible approach to working unsocial hours.

  • Extremely flexible, efficient, well-organised and able to maintain work standards in varied and mobile working environments.

  • Comfortable with mobile IT systems and software.

  • Ability to travel in the UK and abroad


CRIMINAL RECORD CHECK REQUIREMENT


This role does require a criminal records check (CRC) deemed suitable by the Club, at the following level; enhanced with BLC. The requirement of a CRC for this role is due to responsibilities relating to children under the age of 18 years and/or adults at risk of harm
