Description

Celtic Football Club is currently seeking a First Team Analyst. Reporting to the Head of Analysis & Technical Operations, the First Team Analyst plays a crucial role in providing strategic and tactical insights to support the coaching staff and first team players in enhancing performance on the field.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES

  • Working with the Opposition Analyst, collect, organise and present match data, performance statistics and video footage identifying strengths, weaknesses and patterns of both the team and opposition for the First Team Manager and coaching staff

  • Collaborate with the coaching staff to develop game plans, open play and set play strategies and tactical adjustments based on data analysis and insights

  • Create visual presentations, reports and performance dashboards to communicate key findings and recommendations to the First Team Manager, players and coaching staff

  • Conduct post-match analysis and debrief sessions with coaching staff to review performance, identifying areas for improvement and tracking progress

  • Stay informed of industry trends, technological advancements, innovations and best practices in respect of performance analysis methodologies to maintain the relevance of current practices and ensure the development of the team’s analytical capabilities

  • Collaborate with internal and external providers regarding performance analysis tools and softwares, ensuring that we maximise the effective use of these systems and continually develop our user capability

  • Initiate and carry out ad-hoc research projects for the benefit of team and individual performances

  • Complete additional activities for the department as required

SKILLS & EXPERIENCE REQUIRED

Essential

  • Bachelor’s degree in Sports Science, Performance Analysis, or other sports & exercise science related field

  • Knowledge of key performance analysis systems and other software packages including Hudl Sportscode & Chyronhego Coachpaint

  • Comfortable handling data sets using StatsBomb and understanding how to incorporate data into a feedback process with players & coaching staff

  • Evidence of football knowledge through coaching qualifications, playing experience, previous analysis work, and/or a football blog.

  • Previous experience of working within the professional football environment

  • Experience of observing and/or being exposed to varying footballing and/or sporting environments.

  • Comprehensive understanding of varying working methodologies, as well as an acute understanding of examples of best practice in football analysis


Desirable

  • UEFA B Licence

  • ISPAS accreditation or similar relevant qualification or accreditation

  • RPA operator accreditation or similar relevant qualification or accreditation

  • Experience of using a drone to film training would be advantageous


Additional requirements

  • Some flexibility may be required in working hours by prior agreement, e.g. weekday matches

  • A full driving licence due to the workplace location
