Job Title: Leeds United Female Academy College Coach (16 – 19)

Salary:          £15 per hour

Hours:          7 hours per week

  • Mondays 3:00 – 4:30pm

  • Tuesdays 3:00 – 4:30pm

  • Wednesdays (varied) Fixture Dependent


Location: Onsite: Leeds United Foundation, Elland Road, Leeds LS11 0ES

Offsite: various locations

Reports to: Abigail Lee (Senior Women and Girls Officer)

Purpose: To deliver practical football sessions in line with the Female Academy technical programme to girls aged 16-18 who are enrolled on a full-time education and football programme. The students study full time at Leeds City College (Leeds Sixth Form College) and train with the Leeds United Foundation, competing in a localised college league.

In addition to candidates’ ability to perform the duties of the post, the interview will also explore issues relating to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children including:

  • Motivation to work with children and young people

  • Ability to form and maintain appropriate relationships and personal boundaries with children and young people.

The Leeds United Foundation is a non-profit, sports charity that exists to deliver targeted, high-quality programmes that have a real and measurable positive impact on the relationship between the club, its fans and the community.

Main areas of responsibility:

  • Welfare of players within the College programme

  • Provide high quality coaching and support

  • Complete and support administrative duties such as Risk Assessment / Registers / Wellness report every session in-line with programme requirements / Health and Safety / Child Protection

  • To adopt principles of continuous personal and professional development with regard to the role

  • To build and maintain good working relationships both internally and externally, maintaining a professional image at all times when representing The Leeds United Foundation

  • To keep confidential any information gained regarding the Charity, Club and its personnel

  • To maintain a flexible approach to work at all times

  • To maintain the upkeep of all relevant equipment pertaining to the delivery of programmes and to the safety of participants.

  • To undertake all other such relevant duties directed by the Senior Management team, which from time to time may be required with respect to the promotion of The Leeds United Girls College programme.

  • To keep confidential any information gained regarding the Charity, Club, and its personnel.

  • To be aware of and abide by all the Leeds United Foundation policies and procedures, in particular Safeguarding and Equality Diversity & Inclusion


Person specification:

Essential

  • UEFA C

  • Minibus License

  • FA Licensed

  • A recognised FA First Aid Qualification

  • Knowledge and understanding of child protection issues including holding a current FA Safeguarding Children Workshop certificate

  • An accepted FA Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) Disclosure (previously known as an FA CRB Disclosure)

  • Experience in coaching girls’ football

  • Have knowledge and understanding of child development and be sensitive to children’s needs

  • Willingness to work weekends and training events when required

  • Own transport essential

  • Knowledge and understanding of child protection issues including holding a current FA Safeguarding Children Workshop certificate

  • Excellent knowledge of safeguarding and safeguarding practices.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

  • Ability to work both independently, using your own initiative, and as part of a team.

  • An appreciation of Long-Term Player Development

  • Attended the FA Youth Coaches Course

  • Knowledge and understanding of working with young players
