Our OrganisationThe Football Association [The FA] is the not-for-profit governing body of football in England. It is responsible for promoting and developing every level of the game, from grassroots through to the professional game, and generates significant revenue to support investment into English football each year.
The FA oversees England international teams across men's, women's, youth and disability football, as well as running the National League System and FA Competitions including the Emirates FA Cup, Barclays FA Women's Super League, FA Women's Championship, and Vitality Women's FA Cup, and the world-class facilities of Wembley Stadium and St. George's Park,
all with a purpose to Unite the Game and Inspire the Nation.The RoleWe are looking for someone to manage the delivery of some of FA Education's critical strategic projects in 22/23, help set teams up for success in the final year of the current strategic period (23/24) and to act as initial project lead on a significant central FA project.
Key Accountabilities
- Provide project management support to critical coach development projects, including managing workstream, working and steering groups, as required.
- Set the Coach Development Team up with project management tools and frameworks in alignment with the Operations, Learning & Development and DTE FA Ed team for greater consistency across the department and escalation of key risks & issues into the Executive Leadership Team.
- Provide project management support for the new Senior Lead for ED&I using the project management framework and tools that are consistent across the department to enable visibility of all activity that supports our desire to diversify the coaching workforce.
- Drive the annual business planning process for the Coach Development Team, working closely with the new Head of Coach Development for greater coordination and alignment across the men's and women's game and from grassroots to the professional game.
- Support the new Senior Lead for ED&I within FA Education through the business planning process to coordinate and prioritise all 23/24 activity in support of our ambition to diversify the coaching workforce.
- Act as project lead on significant FA central project to oversee, manage and coordinate the baseline data collection process from collation, through coding and into analysis & reporting.
- Project manage the FA Education HEI Strategy work, including coordinating steering and working groups, linking in with broader partnership and accreditation work.
- Executes additional tasks as required in order to meet FA Group changing priorities.
What we are looking forEssential
- PRINCE2 or similar level project or programme management qualification.
- Experience of successful programme and project management in a variety of complex environments.
- Proven ability to work within complex or matrix structured organisations and galvanise people within non direct reporting structures.
- Excellent interpersonal, communication and relationship building skills.
- Proven ability to work across a wide range of stakeholders internal and external.
Desirable
- MBA or relevant post graduate qualification.
- Experience of delivering project management training to diverse workforce.
- Experience of working in an elite sports environment.
- Understanding of the importance and requirements to develop the next generation of coaches and young players.

Please be aware that unless you are on a homebased contract, your contract with The FA will specify a fixed location of either Wembley Stadium, St. George's Park or our Processing Centre. This role will be based at St. George's Park.
We currently work within a hybrid working model whereby the expectation is to work from your contractual location for part of the week, and as and when required by the team. The remaining days can be worked remotely. We will continue to monitor this model and it may be adjusted in future if deemed necessary.
