Key responsibilities

  • Strategic analysis across age groups U16-U21, acting as a link between our Academy and Men's First Team ensuring all information is shared appropriately to achieve alignment.

  • Scout and recommend prospective target players within the U16 – U21 age group and provide support for U15 player identification.

  • Scout and recommend prospective target players nationally, internationally, and locally.

  • Set out a clear assessment criterion for scouting players aged 16-21. Assessing players external vs internal.

  • Contribute to succession planning documents in line with stakeholder requirements to ensure up to date insights.

  • Contribute to all required aspects of player recruitment, including presenting to families and intermediaries. Conduct in-depth research into leagues and identified players, maintaining awareness of industry developments.

  • Understand and comply fully with the rules and code of conduct for scouts, and approach recruitment with utmost adherence to our values.

  • Produce detailed player reports using the relevant digital platforms as required by the department to support the identification and cross-checking of domestic and when required, international talent.


General responsibilities

Skills, knowledge & qualifications required

  • Strong organisational skills and the ability to prioritise tasks

  • Accurate time keeping skills

  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with an ability to use a variety of communication tools (verbal, written, digital)

  • IT skills to include the ability to use performance analysis software and Microsoft office

  • Up to date first aid qualification

  • UEFA B License

  • Level 3 Talent ID


Experience required

  • Previous experience of talent ID, recruitment, and development.

  • Previous experience of writing scouting reports and implementing suitable talent ID frameworks.

  • Experience of developing relationships with leagues, governing bodies, and local grassroots clubs.

  • Previous experience of working in a professional sport.

  • Previous experience of working within an EPPP Academy.

  • Extensive knowledge and experience of the football industry, rules and regulations, governing bodies, and recruitment landscape within it.

  • Previous scouting and robust player analysis experience within an elite environment.

  • Possess a well-established and wide network of club, scouting and intermediary contacts across the UK to support the identification of valuable market opportunities and to provide the capacity to gather important intelligence quickly.

  • Proven and demonstrable track record of accurate identification of elite talents before they established themselves at the highest level.
