Wigan Athletic Community Trust is recruiting for a Disability Football and Sports Officer to
provide specialist sports coaching to adults and children with a disability or with additional support requirements in school and community settings.
This is a fixed term contract, ending on 31
st August 2023, working full time role [37.5 hours per week] with some evening and weekend work as and when required. Following this date the position will become permanent subject to performance and funding.
You will:
- Provide opportunities for individuals with disabilities to take part in football and sports across the Wigan borough
- Deliver high quality football and sports coaching in special schools as part of the Community Trust’s PE Curriculum offer
- Deliver daytime and evening disability football and sport sessions
- Identify and develop good working relationships with local community organisations or providers of support to individuals with disabilities.
- Develop holiday provision for children with disabilities to take part in during school holidays
- Provide all participants with opportunities to take part in a central venue league, ensuring there are teams that represents both adults and juniors
The successful candidate will have:
- A clear passion to enhance life chances of people with a disability
- A proven track record of working with people with a range of disabilities
- The ability to communicate effectively with key skills such as empathy and compassion
- Excellent time management and multi-tasking skills
- A good knowledge of relevant organisations to support the development of a disability programme
