Description

Job Purpose:

  1. To deliver Foundation programmes in South West London including our Premier League Primary Stars and extra-curricular school programmes, disability sessions, health and PSHE, player development and community sessions.

  2. To support the expansion of our school sport programme with local primary and secondary schools through high quality delivery and the development of positive relationships with staff.

  3. To support the Education and Sport Manager and Football Development Officer to deliver a calendar of school tournaments, assemblies, workshops and ground tours as per funding requirements.

  4. To manage and lead delivery on developing and promoting football development programmes and holiday courses.

  5. To complete all administrative and other tasks as required by the Foundation


Main tasks:

  • Delivering a structured and high quality weekly coaching and enrichment programme for all participants involved in the schools coaching programme

  • Lead delivery of extra-curricular school based sessions across SW London maintaining strong relationships with key schools and staff.

  • Lead and organise delivery of Foundation’s disability and health programme in local schools and community venues for older players, creating partnerships with local agencies such as Surrey FA / London FA.

  • Lead delivery of Player Development Centre and holiday courses and the recruitment of new players to our Weds / Sat sessions.

  • Organise and lead school and disability tournaments, assemblies and workshops working with the Education and Sport and Football Development Officer

  • Mentoring and supporting less experienced staff in both school and extracurricular settings (holiday courses, soccer camps etc).

  • Maintaining administrative records for all sessions with full contact details for participants and transfer to senior staff to be input via the Premier League VIEWS monitoring and evaluation software.

  • Completing all other tasks as requested by LOT’s Senior Management Team.


MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • FA Level 1 Coaching Football Award

  • Enhanced DBS (We can do one for you)

  • Safeguarding certificate

  • First Aid certificate


DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS

  • FA Level 2 Coaching Football Award

  • Other Level 1 or above sport / activity based qualifications

  • Other Teaching, Mentoring or Health related qualifications


MINIMUM ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS & EXPERIENCE

  • Ability to work effectively within a team understanding roles and responsibilities within the settings

  • Ability to build effective working relationships with young people, teachers, parents/carers and colleagues.

  • To be a positive role model to participants promoting a positive ethos

  • Ability to lead a structured coaching programme working with children of a range of abilities

  • Knowledge of relevant policies/codes of practice and legislation in child welfare/protection.

  • Customer Care - Listen and respond to customer need, seek out innovative ways of consulting service users and engaging partners.

  • Valuing diversity - Listen, support and monitor the diverse contributions made to service development without prejudice. Challenge behaviours and processes which do not positively advance the diversity agenda whilst being prepared to accept feedback about own behaviour. Understand how Valuing Diversity can improve our ability to deliver better services and reduce disadvantage.

  • Experience of setting up community based activities such as holiday courses or soccer schools

  • Self-motivated and the ability to work on own initiative

  • Excellent communication skills including written, telephone and interpersonal skills.

  • Strong time management skills

  • Attitude to always strive to overachieve and continuously develop the programme and organisation. Excellent attention to detail. Commitment to undergo regular CPD

  • Competent with the use of IT and IT based systems.


DESIRABLE EXPERIENCE

  • Experience of mentoring other staff

  • Experience of managing sports based programmes
