An exciting opportunity has arisen to work with this well established charity as a full time Foundation Coach. York City Football Club Foundation was established fifteen years ago, and became an independent registered charity in 2014. YCFC Foundation works across York and the wider North Yorkshire area to offer an inclusive and diverse range of sports participation, grassroots development, social inclusion, community cohesion, health and wellbeing opportunities, benefiting over 2000 people from age 4 to 80+ each week.
The Foundation has developed a breadth of programmes in recent years, with more focus on social inclusion, health and wellbeing, and community cohesion projects, but it’s bread and butter remains Schools delivery and upskilling of teachers, Community Engagement and Grassroots Development. The successful applicant will be capable of coaching football and multiskills across all Foundation programmes but with a specific focus and interest in developing these projects.
YCFCF is looking for a passionate and enthusiastic individual who has a real interest in making a difference, engaging and inspiring participants from young to old, and providing a quality provision. This role is best suited to someone wanting to make a real difference using the power of sport in school and community settings.
The Community Programme currently includes:
- Schools – Premier League Primary Stars – interventions in reading, maths and PSHE, upskilling teachers and after school clubs
- Community Engagement – Football fun holiday courses including Happy Healthy Holidays aimed at financially disadvantaged families
- Grassroots Development – Skills Centers, Player Pathway Development & Performance squads playing the Junior Premier League
The candidate must understand the importance of Monitoring and Evaluating projects; and the needs of funders, and have a passionfor community engagement through the vehicle of a professional Football Club.
The post holder will be required to have minimum FA Level 2/UEFA C Coaching Qualification, FA Safeguarding & First Aid, Enhanced DBS Check, Driving license/own transport.
In addition, ideally should have minimum two years coaching experience and/or experience in a football development or school role. Be a good communicator, committed, reliable and desire to build relationships.

Experience:
- Football Coaching Min 1 year essential
- Football Coaching including in community & school settings 2 years (preferred)
Licence/Certification:
- Minimum FA Level 1 essential. PLEASE DO NOT APPLY IF YOU DO NOT HAVE FA COACHING QUALIFICATIONS
- FA Level 2/UEFA C License Football Coaching Qualification (preferred)
Skills:
- Good interpersonal and communication skills
