Description

The Commis Chef will work in conjunction with and under the supervision of our Lead Performance Chef to provide food and beverages for our players (Men’s First Team, Women’s First Team, B Team, U18s squads, and selected academy players) and staff based at our training ground. The role holder must demonstrate enthusiasm for learning about the influence of nutrition on athlete performance and wellbeing. An important aspect of the role is to facilitate the smooth operation of our kitchen and dining environment, including maintaining the cleanliness of the dining area and exceptional food hygiene standards. Our dining area is one of the social hubs of the training ground and we aim to create a welcoming and relaxing setting
for players and staff, to refuel, feel at ease and enjoy each other’s company. Therefore, the successful candidate will have a friendly and approachable demeanor, with an ability to quickly build rapport with players and staff.

Key Responsibilities:
• Under the supervision of senior colleagues, help prepare and produce nutritious and appealing food and beverage options, primarily breakfast, lunch and post-training grab-and-go snacks, for our players and staff based at the training ground.
• Develop an understanding of individual dietary requirements for certain players and cater to these e.g. allergies, religious beliefs, individual preferences and goals.
• Ensure that all kitchen and cooking equipment, storerooms and the dining area are cleaned and sanitised on a regular basis. This will include covering regular kitchen porter duties.
• Transporting food orders from the kitchen to the appropriate location, e.g. buffet style chaffing dishes or to specific individuals seated at a table.
• Unloading and appropriate storing of food deliveries.
• Deep cleaning of fridges and storerooms to maintain sanitary and kitchen safety standards.
• Maintain up to date UKAD Clean Sport Advisor qualification.
• Work collaboratively with all members of staff, including performance, operational and coaches. You will interact with a wide range of stakeholders so you must have an approachable demeanour, willingness and passion to help facilitate the teams on-pitch
performance.
• On occasion, collect wholesale cash and carry orders such as sports drinks, cereal bars and other similar match day consumables on behalf of the club.
• Any other reasonable activities requested.

Essential Qualifications, Experience & Requirements:
• Previous experience of catering provision for athletes within a professional sport environment (Desirable).
• Demonstrable enthusiasm and commitment to training as a professional chef, with an interest in sports nutrition.
• Level 1 or 2 Diploma in Professional Cookery or equivalent.
• Food hygiene/safety qualification.
• UKAD Clean Sport Advisor qualification (Desirable).
• Able to evidence Legal Right to Work in the UK.

Essential Personal Skills:
• Committed to professional development.
• Conscientious and strong attention to detail.
• Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
• Excellent IT skills.
• Critical thinking and analytical mindset.
• Able to operate within a high-pressure working environment and put forward their point of view.
• An approachable demeanor and ability to build rapport with players and staff.
