The Purpose:  
Manchester United Academy is seeking a passionate and proactive Casual Athletic Development Coach to support our Academy Players.
This role will work closely with the Athletic Development Lead, supporting the Foundation and Youth Development Phase programs while embodying strong values and a commitment to player development.

The Role:

  • Implementation of the Athletic Development Strategy – Support the physical development of players across the Academy (U9-U16).

  • Session Delivery - Conduct age-appropriate individual and group-based athletic development sessions in the gym and on the training pitch.

  • Player Monitoring & Profiling – Support the monitoring, profiling and benchmarking of all Academy players.

  • Matchday Support – Provide athletic development assistance on matchdays to enhance player performance and readiness.

  • Return-to-Play Process – Deliver athletic development sessions to support the integrated return to play process.

  • Utilise Performance Technology – Apply monitoring tools such as VALD and StatSports to support the return to play process.

  • Individualised Player Development – Ensure each player receives tailored attention and care to maximise their physical potential.

  • Commit to Professional Growth – Maintain a CPD portfolio, strive for excellence, and continuously develop knowledge and skills.

  • Uphold Professional Standards – Demonstrate the highest level of conduct, comply with football regulations, and adhere to club service standards.

  • General Responsibilities – Perform additional duties as required while ensuring professionalism and dedication to player development.

  • Working Patterns - Flexibility to work 1-2 evenings and weekends as required.


The Person:

  • Hold a BSc in a relevant Undergraduate Degree (e.g. Sports Science or Strength & Conditioning)

  • Previous experience working with young people (9-16) in an athletic development environment.

  • Possess or working towards UKSCA and or BASES Accreditation.

  • A positive mindset and outlook within the demands of working in a high-performance environment.

  • FA Safeguarding Qualification.

  • Full DBS/Enhanced Disclosure check.

  • Emergency First Aid in Football (EFAiF) or equivalent/ higher qualification.


Desirable

  • Hold an MSc in a relevant Postgraduate Degree (e.g. Sports Science or Strength & Conditioning).

  • FA Level 2 in Coaching Football or other sports.
