Description
We are seeking to recruit an experienced and passionate developer of young athletes to support the delivery of our coaching curriculum within our U18 scholar programme. Given the importance of creating player pathways from this age group to our 1st Team, the successful candidate should possess a high level of coaching experience, qualifications, and tactical knowledge of the 11v 11 game.
Collaborating with the Lead Coach, and multi-disciplinary team, you would be expected to support and coach the full time players as a collective squad, in units and as individuals to maximise their football and personal development. These players will also be participating in an educational programme, and they will require some coach support for this crucial area of the wider scholarship.
The role holder will be expected to demonstrate the club values in all aspects of the role and act as a mentor to all U18 players.
Development of players through structured Individual Learning Plans (ILP) and providing them with meaningful feedback through regular Performance Development Reports (PDR) will be critical areas of importance for the role holder.
Key Tasks
- Experience of working in a coaching capacity in a professional football environment with players in the Youth, Professional Development Phase or 1st Team is necessary
- Sound knowledge in relation to pedagogical skills to promote learning in young adults within a football setting
- Effective communication skills to suit a variety of audiences
- Attend and contribute to PDP Weekly multi - disciplinary meetings and player development planning
- Knowledge of using PMA and Hudl to support player learning and reflections
- Actively promote exemplary behaviours that support the creation of a high-performance environment for staff and player’s
- Self-aware of your own developmental needs and proactive in undertaking CPD
- Given the training locations, games schedule, frequent access to a car is essential
- Right to work in the UK must be held at the time of applying.
Requirements of the role:
The appointed coach must have:
- UEFA A licence (completed)
- FA Youth award
- FA Safeguarding certificate
- EFAiF certificate
- Experience coaching Youth or Professional Development Phase Players in an Academy or 1st Team players
- Driving Licence and car access as some travel may be necessary
Desirable qualifications:
- The candidate will be working towards, the FA Advanced Youth Award (Pro Development Phase)
- Professional football playing experience in a UK or European league
- Sports Coaching or other related degree
- PMA/Hudl user experience
