Job Summary and Objectives:

The Assistant Groundsperson is required to give support to the Senior Groundsperson and is primarily based at the Training Ground (Heston)

The Assistant Groundsperson will work as part of the team and be responsible for the maintenance and preparation of the academies four grass training pitches to include cutting, marking spiking, brushing and surface grooming. Maintenance of associated soft and hard landscaping areas are also part of ensuring that the overall site is presented to a high standard. Occasional liaison with the academy coaching staff on any issues that arise during training. The successful candidate will also be expected to assist or deputise
for the Grounds Supervisor from time to time. Occasionally work may involve work outside normal office hours, at evenings, weekends and bank holidays

Key Responsibilities:

To support the Grounds supervisor in the preparation and maintenance of the pitches for both training and matches.

Role Requirements:

1. Maintain and prepare the playing surfaces to an excellent standard, ensuring that matches and training sessions can go ahead on schedule.


2. All duties relating to the creation, marking out, and setting up of playing surfaces.


3. Undertaking general maintenance tasks in relation to planted landscaped areas of trees and shrubs, ensuring the cleanliness and tidy appearance of the car park.


4. To carry out pre and post use inspections of equipment, reporting any issues or defects to the Grounds Supervisor.


5. The safe setting up, maintenance and operation of associated equipment and machinery used in grounds maintenance.


6. Ensure all machinery is cleaned and safely stored after use.


7. Loading, transporting, and storing equipment and materials safely


8. To have a flexible approach to working hours. Due to the requirements of the club, flexible working hours may be required on occasion to attend on bank holidays evenings and weekends to cover all training and match day requirements.


9. When dealing with customers/clients/members of the public, to uphold high standards of customer care and promote the image of QPR FC


10. Demonstrate consistently high communication skills with coaching staff, suppliers, and colleagues.


11. Club uniform and PPE will be provided by the Club which must be worn on duty.

13. Comply with all company policies/procedures. Adhere to all company regulations regarding policies, procedures, safeguarding, health, safety, and security.

Person Specification:

Qualifications

• Level 1+ qualification in a relevant field of study – this could be an NVQ, SVQ, or Work Placed Diploma / or full time Level 1 qualification or another qualification such as the Level 2 GMA Technical Certificate in Turf Surface Maintenance. (Desirable)


• PA1/PA6/PA2 National Proficiency Test council in Pesticide Application (Desirable)

Experience

• Experience of working outdoors in a similar role working on professional sports pitches, though working in amenity horticulture such as landscaping, gardening etc would also be an advantage.

Skills

• A willingness to engage in Continual Professional Development on an annual basis.


• Competent level of numeracy and literacy with excellent communication skills


• An ability to work effectively in a team and independently


• Valid full driving licence.
