Sky Blues in the Community, the official charity arm of Coventry City Football Club, is excited to be working with The Coach Core Foundation to recruit three Apprentice Sports Coaches as part of the Community Activator Coach Level 2 Apprenticeship.

This is more than just a job – it’s a chance to make a genuine difference in the lives of people across Coventry and Warwickshire. You’ll be helping to deliver fun, inclusive, and meaningful sport and physical activity sessions to children, young people and adults, in a variety of community settings.

Whether it’s in schools, youth centres or local community hubs and spaces, you’ll be part of a dedicated team committed to using the power of sport to bring about lasting social change.

What You’ll Be Doing:

• Assist in the planning, delivery and evaluation of age-appropriate coaching sessions that meet the needs of individuals and groups.


• Work in a variety of exciting community environments such as schools, youth clubs, leisure centres, parks and more.


• Engage with participants from a range of backgrounds, ages and abilities to promote positive physical and mental well-being.


• Undertake key admin duties such as registers, risk assessments, impact case studies and social media content.


• Collect, analyse and report data to demonstrate the positive impact of your sessions and projects.


• Maintain safe, inclusive spaces and ensure proper use and storage of all equipment.


• Always uphold safeguarding and health & safety standards.


• Represent Sky Blues in the Community and Coventry City FC in a professional, enthusiastic and committed manner.

Full Support & Upskilling:

We don’t expect you to have lots of prior coaching experience – we’re looking for passion, enthusiasm, and a willingness to learn. You’ll receive:

• A dedicated mentor and ongoing support from both Sky Blues in the Community, The Coach Core Foundation and Lifetime Training.


• Uniform, an enhanced DBS check, and access to additional coaching qualifications


• Paid time for training, workshops and reflection


• Help to complete any required Functional Skills (if you don’t already have GCSEs in Maths/English)

100% of our previous apprentices have gone on to secure permanent roles with us after completing their apprenticeship. We’re proud to invest in our people and help them build long-term careers in sport and community development.

• Hours: Flexible between 9am–8pm, Monday to Saturday (to be confirmed upon appointment)


• Contract: Fixed-term apprenticeship with strong potential for progression
