Job Title: x2 Academy Sports Therapist Internship Season 2021-2022
Department: Academy Sports Medicine & Science Department, Priestfield Stadium.

Position Overview:

A Part time position that aims to:

Roles & Responsibilities:
Develop Pitch-side first aid and acute injury management skills of professional development phase players (U18’s).
Assist overseeing and organising movement screen assessments.
Complete emergency medical checks prior to matches and report any issues to the Head of Medicine and Sport Science or Academy Manger immediately.
Assist recording all match day injuries and treatment delivered utilising PMA. Report all significant injuries to the Head of Medicine & Sport Science in accordance with Gillingham Football Club Academy policy.
Develop clear and concise SOAP note writing skills.
Assist planning and implementation of recovery strategies to ensure players optimised for matchday and training,
Assist compiling rehabilitation programmes to ensure players are appropriate to return to play.
Develop Sports taping skills.
Provide reports to the Head of Academy Medicine & Sport Science and relevant coaches on the player’s ongoing treatment and rehabilitation and estimated return to play date.
To work within and uphold all the Academy’s Policies and Best Practise Guidelines including Safeguarding, Health and Safety, Recruitment, Equality and Codes of Conduct.

Competencies

Must be able to commit to at least x2 days per week between the hours of 9-4pm.
Willingness to work unsociable hours e.g. weekends.
Ability to build and maintain local relationships.
Be able to work as part of a team and independently.
Competent with Microsoft Office Package.
Dedication to self-improvement and personal development.

Requirements:

Final year or recently graduated Sports Therapy or equivalent subject.
An excellent understanding of acute injury management and physiotherapy in sport.
Minimum FA Level 3 Emergency Medical First Aid in Football (EMFAIF).

Desirable

FA Intermediate Trauma and Medical Management in Football (Willingness to complete at next available opportunity).
FA Safeguarding Certification.
