Description

Are you a dynamic and enthusiastic data analyst with a passion for football? If so, we have the perfect role for you! Stoke City Football Club of the English Football League is looking for an Academy Sports Scientist with a particular focus on analysing data to support its Sports Science operations with data analysis, visualisation and report making.

Reporting to the Head of Sports Science and Athletic Development, the role will look to support the Sports Science department, creating effective and dynamic reporting systems that allow us to track change over time in all aspects of player development allowing us to support all our players development through enhanced analysis.

The candidate should have good knowledge of data management, extraction, and visualisation processes. A fundamental component of this is the ability to provide insight to a range of key stakeholders (Senior Management, Sports Scientists, Coaches, Parents and Players) in a clear and efficient manner.

The role will require the participant to work within a multi disciplinarily team with the responsibility to develop, maintain, and manage advanced reporting, analytics and dashboards using BI solutions. Therefore, the ability to extract insight from a variety of data sources and understanding complex data is crucial, as is experience of using either Power BI or Tableau.

Key Skills and experience:

  • Practical experience of data analysis either in a professional or academic capacity.

  • Experience of working with large data sets.

  • Demonstrable ability to visualise data informatively and creatively, utilising tool such as Tableau or Power BI.

  • Ability to work cross functionally and engage with stakeholders at different levels.

  • Problem solving capability.

  • Pace, agility, and innovative thinking.

  • Verbal and written communication skills.


Desirable:

  • Working knowledge of programming languages like SQL, R, or Python.

  • Experience of creating data capture processes such as Power Apps or VBA solutions.

  • Knowledge of Sports Science principles and practices.


The ideal candidate will have experience in understanding complex data to affect change, have excellent communication, organisational and interpersonal skills with the ability to deliver specific information not only to players but also to all staff and departments of the Academy.

The positions will be offered on a full time basis.
